I always Kinda Liked these, this one looks pretty good for the $8900 asking price. Considering what Fox Bodies are going for these days it looks like a Bargain. https://denver.craigslist.org/cto/d/fort-lupton-1984-mustang-svo-original/6780237374.html
Jeff, did you read the complete ad? He's also including a one owner 1988 Turbo Coupe daily driver. If I was near the place I would be on the phone as I'm typing this. Tom
Ooh, ad's flagged. I wonder if it was for the addition of the Turbo Coupe on the ad? Some people self-appoint as Craig's Cops and are quite bothersome.
I like these cars, but the early ones with the recessed headlights always ruin it for me. I understand what was going on at the time and why it was done. But ascetically speaking I would just have a hard time loving one of these things as they deserved.
I did read that the 88 Turbo coupe was included for the price, I agree on the recessed headlights they are awful, but I always liked that version of the mandated 85mph speedo! Letter of the law met!
IIRC, Congress was dithering about changes to the Federal motor vehicle regs, which included aerodynamic headlamps, and Ford got to the go day and had to use the recessed headlamps because 'congress' is the opposite of 'progress.'
Ford still wanted to use sealed-beam headlights. Otherwise, they could have borrowed headlamps they were already using on European Fords which would have been flush with the rest of the lighting. I don't see why air pockets are supposed to help aerodynamics, except on golfballs
Actually they could not, the Federal law still required seal beam head lights in the US of A, the government always knows best. Wink Wink
Like up to this date they had to be Sealed Beams, the regulation was passed back in the 1930's I believe, and not updated until the 1980's. Government in action. A lot of European cars had to have the older style headlights for many years if they were sold in the US.
