    Let me use your garage and power tools and we'll see who's faster. I hope you end up getting in a jam and then going back and forth to a doghouse-sized apartment, everytime you have to grab a tool. What else is up with you

    I was lucky to get a new bolt, with the bellows kit, because I needed the old one for converting into a joint-pulling tool. I broke out an 11 mm rod and sawed it down to where a 17 mm extention is to protrude. That way, I could use the entire joint thread for applying pressure to the shaft, without endangering them through applying excessive torque to too few threads if the extension were to be too long.
    I, then, drilled an 11 mm hole into the bolt, for holding the extension.
    I got the joint to move. But, not enough. Later on, I'll cut and shape a new extention which will be double in length

    Just finished rebuilding the injectors on the the 85, I installed new nozzles and shimmed the injector springs to run at 2050 psi. I'll run it this way for a few days and see if everything's good, hopefully I won't need to touch them again although i am a little concerned about one since I had to heat it with a torch in order to dis-assemble it.

    Today is the day the wedding takes place, between joint and axle. All that's holding it up is a confirmation on which way the ring is facing. In the following video, the curved ring (behind the plastic what looks to be a bearing race) is facing the opposite direction from the direction mine was facing when disassembled which could mean that one of our axle boots was probably replaced prior and re-assembled wrong. I'm busy trying to find an exploded view. You would think it should have been available, in seconds. I don't feel at ease trying to re-invent this system. Once these new parts get put on, there's no return, meaning no margian of error, unless I'd like forking out for another kit

    Yeah big ole Bosch mechanicals, after a days run I found one with a slight leak between body halves so I pulled it re- lapped the machined surfaces and used a thread sealer that was included with the nozzles in case this happened. So now the car is almost ready for this summers road trip I just have a few more things to check over and service.

    More like "what have I done with my Wagon lately". My grandsons have been with me for over a month so the Custom Nomaro has become one of our main cruisers. Last week we took a road trip with it to see Family in Michigan. The boys were amazed at how may people were snapping pictures or coming up to us and asking questions about the car. One trucker on the Ohio turnpike followed us into a rest area and said the car was being talked about by other truckers who had seen us or were looking to spot us. On the 4th we attended a small Cruise Night in Holly Michigan with my Son and his Family. As soon as we pulled in, several other cruisers walked down the street to check out the Nomaro.     Although I'm not a fan of modern Camaro's ( personal preferences, I also built many of those head & tail lamps) yours' is a great build and should be appreciated wherever it shows up.

    Yesterday, I power washed it off and drove it around before adding 4 Oz. of ATF. Seems like I may have not tightened the pan quite right the other month.

    I drove the 90 Mercury maybe a total of 40 miles today. The brakes were acting up again and once I parked at home, I tried turning the car on and it wouldn't hold an idle for a few cranks. I opened the hood, saw power steering fluid (ATF) on the air intake plastic (irrelevant) and tried starting the car again; this time it started. Maybe that's just from old gas? The car idled a little off once I did get it started. I last filled the tank about 2 months ago and haven't gone through it yet.

    Oh and that 1991 Grand Marquis Sedan I've seen is still there; I'm considering it again. The seller said he stuck a Jasper transmission in it so I think I'd be nutty not to pick it up as a parts car. Only thing is Mom would hate the thought of having more junk here, on top of the 41 Dodge and 77 F350 in the garage that have been sitting for ages. (Grandpap owned them.)

    Had a nasty oil leak on the '73 that I ignored for too long. Finally fixed it, it was the oil pressure sending unit amusingly enough. Cleaned up the housing and put a new one in and it no longer leaks. Finally! The old sending unit I'm sure is still good, it wasn't even finger tight in the housing.

    Then in the middle of all this the AC fuse started blowing. I took the entire system completely apart and found it would blow when only the control unit and ambient switch were hooked in the circuit, everything else out. Took the slider out of the control unit and cleaned it up nice and pretty, then ran it with the ambient switch bypassed. Ran for 40 minutes, got cold, futzed around with settings and all was good. Turn off and plug ambient switch in and fuse blows within a minute. It appears that the ambient switch is intermittently bad, which is frustrating as it's not an easy to come by part. Fortunately Pontiac didn't use just one but two, one of which is in the evaporator suitcase in the engine. Also, for 1971 they started using 2 switches in series instead of just the one, so I can bypass the one in the dash with relative safe feelings until I can locate another one of these sensors.

    Why amazingly? It used to be that sending units were almost always at fault for leaks

    I picked up this 68 Ford Country Sedan back in Feb. Have steadily been upgrading it into a reliable daily driver. I'm just about done with the current updates:
    • FiTech EFI on a new Edelbrock intake (on the orig 390 FE engine, 77k miles, runs so smooth...)
    • New shocks (Viking), sway bars, and springs.
    • New radiator (the 50 year old one was showing its age).
    • Fixed a bunch of broken stuff (gas gauge, dash lights, bad rear brake).
    • Just got my new wheel/tire package on it.
    Super happy with how it's turned out so far. In the far future I'll start replacing the old bulbs with LEDs, and I'm still looking for some sort of headrest solution. I'd like to get the windows tinted too to help with the internal heat, but no one remotely near me will do it: Appears they use film cuttin' robots now, and this old car ain't in their system :S

    lol, true, but that seems like a lot of work, and my passengers can't hang their elbow out the windows :p
