    I agree.
I just replaced all the o-rings in the 85's a/c system, tested and filled with iso butane & propane, I now have cold air. Next on the list is trans service for tomorrow, hopefully it won't rain.

I replaced the gasket with the older one again. I compared the two gaskets and Dorman gaskets are NOT thick enough.

BTW, on another leaky subject NEVER cross-thread these; take extra time to make sure it's right. I almost destroyed one hole entirely but using a longer bolt (6 stores later...) seems to have worked, I don't see any leaking so far (the car hasn't been on since I re-attached the pan.)

Is that safe? I don't even think that's legal here in the states.

No, it isn't. They work better than any 'safe' refrigerants, but is explosive in a collision.

You wouldn't believe what modern refrigerant costs here. R-12 used to be dirt cheap, in comparison. I used to have one of those Polish-made camping refrigerators which used propane, back in the late 70's or early 80's. As far as I know, it wasn't illegal. You never know what's in your car, when you buy it used, until it starts to leak. Oh, well. No risk. No fun

Been a bit busy this weekend, yesterday I flushed the power steering and replaced both fuel filters, then I took the power antenna apart and freed the mast up & lubed it,I now have full mast extension plus I started putting together a spares kit for this summers cross country trip. Today I just did a trans service on it which included draining the torque converter, the trans fluid was starting to get dark so it was due. I do like that the torque converter has a drain plug so I could get more of the old fluid out.

Is it still draining? I let mine drain overnight just 4 days ago which seems to have helped get a little more out.

Oh and I also charged the A/C in mine on the 24th.

Lil Sis is going in on Tuesday to have a shock pocket repaired. Hope that's all that needs to be done for now...:nailbiting:

I also ordered a new headliner. Hubby's brother in-law has his own side line company and install he I going to install it. Hubby is going to remove the old on, which I don't think is going to give him much resistance. I was hoping to have it completed before our car show but I don't think that is going to happen. Oh well, at least it won't be touching my head any more.

Just let it drain for a hour while I cleaned the pan and got the new gasket & filter ready to go on, still about 9 litres drained from the system which on a complete dry fill is around 11.
