I keep seeing the title of this thread and can't resist. About 10 years ago I started a new job and on our first road trip, I earned the nick name The Gambler. My boss put the name on the front of my hardhat with a label maker.I'll let you guys search the Urban Dictionary for gambled and lost.

Life is a gamble. You can't win if you don't gamble.
Funny, I've never gambled. Even the few times we went with my brother to the local gambling boat and again near Jacksonville, Fl. with friends I'd give my free chips to my wife.
She actually won enough off shore from Jacksonville to buy a nice heavy duty window AC.
In Illinois she was always buying those instant win lotto tickets and winning often. Still I couldn't see wasting my time and money on gambling.
On the boats I wasted my time watching waves behind the boat or TV.
I figured someone was paying for those fancy boats and casinos and it wouldn't be me.
Now the only gambling I do is shopping at the local Big Box stores. Now days you never knew who or what you will meet out on the road or down the next isle.

Fanny's a winner so she'll do well on her next cottage adventure.

Thank you...fingers crossed...is that gambling? Although buying another cottage will be a gamble.

Still there are burning unanswered questions I'll just ask. You two sold the cute freshly remodeled cottage to have money to buy a small shop to sell "stuff", after upsetting a nice little old lady neighbor. The shop was sold to some one else who beat you to it. Nw you are shopless, cottageless, and nearly neighborless. Your'e lucky you have station wagon friends here, more or less!:rofl2:

So why aren't you still looking for another shop to follow your dream instead of buying another cottage to sneak off for who know's what at your age?
As a precaution, like I did, check out the neighbors and the neighborhood first. Both of our next door neighbors shoot off fireworks and so far I don't mind. One even had a big fire in the front yard at 2AM when I got up to snoop out the window at them.:watching:

    Enquiring minds want to know!:90:

So all of that was a secret shared in a PM but no longer...now I don't even have friends on a forum anymore...

Sounds like you have decent neighbours. Is there a shop for sale in your neighbourhood? ;)

    Everyone likes fannie's fannie!
There is a large wood and metal garage right next to our bedroom windows, maybe 100' over. The property is on a main 2 lane blacktop that goes west farther into the country. But a small town is around five miles that way. Lots of customers. A fairly busy county road.
Son in laws parents are not far. She's into making T shirts, signs, and all sorts of graffics. You could rent her a space. The husband raises bees for honey and a nice garden. Rent him another space.
The other direction a half mile is a new 4-lane highway bypass. Continuing north on the two lane are lots and lots of senior living apartments and nursing homes. Actually the location would be great for a craft type shop. Old people like crafts.
Just don't set off fireworks after dark and hold the noise down! Even your station wagons would fit inside.
I'll go tell the old man, woman, and grandkids you're moving in. They also sell firewood so you could build fires every night.

I forgot this was the public forum and not the secret message center. Good thing I didn't tell the real secrets and our SS and bank account numbers.

I'm sure it didn't seem too funny at the time. I got sick on a long drive once, and had an 'accident'. Luckily, it was only my wife with me as a witness......

You can tell us Krash. We won't laugh or tell anyone else.
Actually with four kids and all the places we traveled, I can't really remember anyone getting sick in a car. Later my wife had to take motion pills when I drove in mountains. Apparently she outgrew that or different vehicles bounced and swayed less.

Pills aren't needed for that. Here, a sailors' remedy:

You sold that beautiful cottage? You two put an amazing amount of love into that place (not to mention the money and sweat equity.....)

Thank you...we got it back. ;) We are thinking about getting another one. It would seem that we like doing this kind of thing.

Learning the hard way is a ßi+€#, Sir. I can't blame you for moving to the most remote end of Florida furthest away from seawater.
