Actually the first 1909 and some other Model T's came in red. Later most were black simply because they used a primitive painting method and black seemed to dry faster. As for the brakes, I do know my 1939 Ford was the first year for hydraulic brakes. Dodge may have had hydraulic brakes earlier. Around Aug 13th is "car week" on TV. Stories about many new inventors and the evolution of cars. Maybe we'll get some answers then.
