A thin layer of copper made the chrome top coat shine. Early cars had brass trim. Late cars have cheap plastic. I had a 1950 Stupidbaker and a 1949 Ford. I loved the chrome bullet grille centers. My '53 Buick had two baby bullets.
Actually, it was copper, then nickel, then chromium. Nickel has a beauty to its luster also, but the copper gives a uniqueness to its luster.
Ye sir. You are right and so is Poison. On Cadillac those were jokingly called Dagmars, referencing a well endowed lady actress of the day. I believe on today's rechome jobs they skip the copper. I recommend you DO NOT buy from the 'Bumper Boyz'.
The progress is looking real good. I am glad you found your way back and are able to post photographs.
Lisa the car is coming along great . Been in the shadows . Do you have a name on chrome shop and maybe a phone # ? Blue
