This is a great article on both the Ammeter and Voltmeter and troubleshooting both: http://www.bmwmotorcycletech.info/amp&voltmeters.htm
Sorry I missed the request! I wouldn't have been much help though, the later Fox-Stangs didn't have ammeters, they had voltmeters. Shiny Side Up! Bill
Wanna trade? I should go to the junkyards and see if I can find one, before I finish this off. Does it go in the same location on the cluster? Top and lefthand?
Leather seats? Nice. They'd fit in mine. After this, I could probably jack up my horns and put your car under them. Mexican Fairmont Squires got dual horns like the big boys. Sounds like a Lincoln. Actually, I think mine was built on the same line in Mexico. Ok, I'll dig around for a Bronco, Explorer or an F150 for the voltmeter gauge. The pencil soldering iron does a nice job of melting the little plastic 'rivets' and grip tabs around the gauge bodies. No Fear, Normie is here! Thanks for that great shot through the (drooling) convert.
That's actually not mine, just a pic I found on Ebay to show you what an '89 dash looks like. My asc looks pretty much the same though. Oh, the asc is also for sale, I just bought a Thunderbird Turbo Coupe Shiny Side Up! Bill
Is that with the 190 HP I4? That's the engine I want for mine. I kept the I4/V8 crossmember from when I switched to the I6. That would be HOT! My wagon only weighs 2,685 lbs. 14 lbs per HP!!! I was just reading a comparison of the big 1976 to 1977 Olds, Ford, and Chrysler T&C wagons running at 26 lbs per HP. Oh yeah!
Are you happy with performance or do you plan on some mods? No doubt you've been here: http://www.turbotbird.com/ But what about this?: http://jr.rustecat.com/articles/
Don't know about the performance... haven't driven it yet! The last guy did a few "mods" that weren't up to snuff, including hacking out the A/C! I have a parts car that I am stripping to make this one whole again. It has a Gillis Valve and a Boost Bypass Valve, and I'll be adding a 3" exhaust to it as well. I also want to install a power moonroof, but I need to find someone who will sell me an aftermarket moonroof, or I'll need to pull one from a junkyard car. Shiny Side Up! Bill
New Tailgate Found! HandyAndy and I went and picked up a replacement tailgate for my Road Queen. Most of you don't know the story, but here it is from November 2007. $50! On the Used parts network, up here in Western Canada, one yard out of Saskatchewan wanted $275, plus crating, plus shipping. Here's the old saga when it happened, how 'we' fixed it, because a lot of members offered some good tips and what I have to do. http://www.stationwagonforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=711&page=23 This gate is baby-blue, a bit of surface rust (which will go under the new woodgrain, and the best part, new paint that I can roller on, inside the house (no garage) from the Rustoleum cans I had left unopened, for exactly this kind of touch up. Thanks Andy. :2_thumbs_up_-_anima I can't do it for awhile, with all the renos, but I've got the gate. 2 years later. Amen!
Hey Norman a new spin on painting wood grain on? http://rolledon.forummotion.com/projects-f2/roll-on-paint-plus-wood-grain-finish-t442.htm#4050
Here's one of the ways and results. Rick was one of the guys on the original Moparts.org thread: http://www.rickwrench.com/index79master.htm?http://www.rickwrench.com/wood.html Its the big panels that I really like in that thread that OTR posted. The possibilities are endless for all kinds of grain finishes (satin stainless comes to mind on a dark painted car, like dark blue or black or brown or....) Carbon Fiber anyone? Just depends on the roller and brush bristles.
