Wow! What a find! Wish it were closer to me. Ultra loaded 1983 Bonneville with $4400 worth of factory options (in 1983 dollars). Never even knew that leather was optional on the G model Bonneville. Even has factory gauge cluster with tach! No reserve and currently only bid to $1300. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1983-Pontiac-Bonneville-Brougham-/302160915637?_trksid=p2141725.m3641.l6368
Looking at the top of the window sticker sheet (1st page), I'm seeing an indication that this may have been a 'zone order' car - one that comes down the line destined for auto show display. I certainly haven't seen one of these this well-equipped. It's basically a 4-door '83 Grand Prix LJ Brougham. It's for sale by a charity in my old home town of Orange, CA.
Other than some door dings, and the almost mandatory falling headliner it is in remarkable shape. And I agree it was either a Zone car or an Executive car. Pontiac was really pushing the ne downsized Bonneville G's that year, trying to make the best of no full size B body to sell. Wow $14,000 in 82/83! But according to the online inflation calculator I just found that would work out to around $36,000 in todays USD's. So not as expensive as I thought. I forget the incredible inflation rates of the late 70's I put in the same amount from 1976 and it came out as $61,000, 1977 =$57,000, 1978 = $53,000, 1979 = $47,000, 1980 = $42,000, 1981 =$38,000. So from 1976 to 1982 the USD lost 1/2 it Value in buying power. So $14,000 was definatly the high end for a Pontiac, but not what I was thinking like around $45 to $50,000, I bought my 1st new car in late 1979, a left over 1979 Firebird Formula with a 4bbl 301, 4-speed trans, and a 2.42 posi rear axle. I did get a great deal as it was also a Demo with about 3000 miles on it for $4,200 out the door. That would be about $14,000 in todays dollars so it was a good deal with a full warranty. Just 3 to 4 years later I can't imagine paying $14,000 for a car!
Pretty righteous machine. Too bad the back windows don't roll down. It does have the power wing vents though. Could be a pretty good deal for someone.
That WAS a good deal! Our first new car was also a 'left over' - '74 Mazda RX-4 that we purchased some time during the '75 model year - don't remember the month. Last one they had. Paid $3,995 - BTW - bought a slightly-used '74 RX-4 wagon a few months later, as well. This was probably taken the day after we bought it (or maybe the same day...)
