"The Silencers", a 1966 Matt Helm movie starring Dean Martin and Stella Stevens. He plays a James Bond-like secret agent that drives, of all things, a 1966 Mercury Colony Park station wagon as his gadget-laden supercar. It plays a very big part, and is shown in glorious detail.
The wagon was customized by George Barris and is very reminiscent of the Aurora concept from a few years earlier.
I don't think it still exists, but I wish someone would recreate it.
A few weeks ago, this movie and wagon were mention in an article in The New York Times. I couldn't believe it!
YouTube has it listed, but no video available...bummer.

Yeah, bummer, wix...I'd love to see that wagon! Bet it's in a storage lot in Hollywood. LOADS of old stuff in storage there.

I just bought this movie on eBay. It's been many years since I last viewed it, and it has not aged well...but the scenes with the Colony Park in it are just as wonderful as I remembered them. It is a beautiful 65 model, not a 66. White with a white interior. Coved rear seats, a power divider window between the rear seat and third row sleeping area. Power operated liquor! bar. Power curtains all around, and a power lowering and raising tail gate. AM/FM radio and dash switches shown in detail. Gorgeous!

That wagon is in a collection or museum somewhere. Anybody got any clues?

Edit: Just did a search. it's at the Volo.

I just did a search on the Volo site and only got a 1955 Monterrey wagon. I hope I am just searching the wrong way, because I would love to see that 65 CP in person.

Cool find, Fat. I would love to have that wagon! I have met George Barris. He's also done some other phenomenal cars besides Hollywood cars.
