On my way home from work the other day as I came down the ramp I saw this car so I pulled in took a couple of pics.

Cool photo Fannie. It could be a different year, but it's not uncommon for the sedan and wagon of the same make, model and year to have differences. I would say the sedan tail lights didn't work with the wagon body, so GM went the corporate route and made all of the wagon rear ends the same, affixing model specific lenses and trim.

That's exactly what they all do. GM, Ford, Chrysler all did the separate wagon style taillight designs so they wouldn't necessarily have to do extra tailgate design work for lights to be extended across.

Very correct. Very rarely will you see sedan/coupe, and wagon versions of the same vehicle using the same tail lights. The differing requirements of a wagon in the rear usually necessitates a completely different tail light design - one that is more 'vertical' in orientation, so that any tail gate / lift gate can be fit it. Thinking on it right now, the only sedan / wagon that used the same tail lamp (MAYBE) that I can think of, is the '71/'72 big Olds Custom Cruiser / Olds 98 - and they might only LOOK the same from the outside. Could be different lamps inside.
