    I hope so.

Up next, new idler arm and power steering bushes, then a wheel alignment. Hopefully that will tighten things up a bit up front.

Lil Sis is out of her tent shelter where she was all winter. We got her a new battery but the engine is racing so I'm still not driving her yet. :(
We're hoping the local garage guy will make a house call maybe on Wednesday to help determine the issue. I'm hoping it's a sensor. On an up note the new plates have arrived...eee

As for the idle speed, you can verify if the idle air controller is at least part of the problem. With the engine cold, remove the IAC, then stick your finger over the hole the pintle closes on, and have someone start the car. If it runs fast still, you have a big vacuum leak. If it catches then quits, then the problem's the IAC or the computer system. Bear in mind, if the charging system has a problem, the computer can kick up idle speed to try to get the alternator to excite and therefore charge at the higher speed.

No need for apologies. We knew in the fall when we put her to bed that we would have to deal with this in the spring and here we are. :)
Your tip was very helpful. Hubby checked out the IAC today and it is completely worn out. When he took it off it was stuck in a position that was allowing the engine to rev high. He tried to clean it but after reassembling it it now is stuck so that the engine revs to low so that it almost stalls. So we ordered a new one. It's shipping from the U.S. so it'll take about a week to get here.
So hopefully in a week or so Lil Sis will be on the road wearing her new plates all thanks to you.

    Thank you.:thumbs2:

You're quite welcome, and glad to be of help. But you had to ship one from the U.S.? Where's Canadian Tire when you need 'em?

66 Ford...........to get the LED turnsignals/brake lights to work properly, you must switch out the flasher on the fuse panel. If you go to your local parts house, just ask for a LED flasher. It will fit right in the fuse panel and should fix your problem

Yup. I may be wrong but an electronic flasher for tow vehicles is also supposed to work.

Thanks Chopt. I still have original fuse box with glass fuses, will it fit into the fuse block, or need to be wired in? It currently has a standard flasher. The guy suggested I might need a resistor to slow the flasher, but didn't say anything about a specific flasher.

    Cheers
