Wait till you get some snow on those trees they'll be beautiful. ;):hmmm:WHAT? :grumpy:Snow in Illinois(n)
We visited our 17 year old grand daughter first when we arrived to drop off a few things. Her, our daughter, her husband, and the guys that helped them move in all said it's a cozy home. These are all people used to $300,000 modern large houses. We were there several times but never for long and it does feel cozy.
But I believe we are both too old to "bang around in it":disagree:.

I don't believe your to old to bang around in your new, actually with that one eye thing you've got going on there you'll probably bang around just fine, well until you get the lay out of the new place. Any idea when that is going to happen?, well

Besides buying the cottage my older sister got married and so did my oldest son. He and he's bride have been together for 5-6years now. That bought a home not far from here and quickly became the proud parents of two dogs (Gucci and Lucy) and three cats (names...I'm not sure).
They decided to get married a year ago and tied the knot September 19 a few days before #1's 35 b-day. The weather was great and it turned out to be perfect day. They are a great match for each other, I'm sure they are going to be happy together for a long, long time.

This has turned into a gossip post. :LOL:Our daughter informed me her, husband, two kids, and two dogs will be out and into their new home by the end of this month. Not holding my breath. They said that a month or so ago. I had planned on taking my 55 Chevy wagon when we went up there but waited. Good thing, the garage is half full!
On the other hand, we have no idea what to do with the car parts, cars, and yard sale crap Dollie has collected over the last 21 years. We can't list this place till then. I never expected to move again and I'm getting too old for this!
Don't tell Fat Tedy. He thinks I made the house thing up!:)

Do yourself a favor and get in contact with those who conduct estate sales and let them handle it. Regardless of sentimental value, it's just STUFF that needs to go. Then, either give away what's left or rent a backhoe and bury it. Take all the metal to a scrap yard and sell it.

While I think about it, I have to give Fannie a compliment. After seeing her picture with the chain saw standing on those logs, she's a pretty good lookin' woman. I had her pictured as a frumpy old crone. ;)

Hate to scrap decent car parts even if some bumpers are just cores. I do agree we are gonna have to do something soon. We have lots of good things and lots of useless junk. To me the only thing sentimental are a few of my cars, my wife and computer. They can all be replaced!

Spring is here, spring is FINALLY here...

We are going up to open the cottage tomorrow. Hubby has been up a couple of times already. He wanted to move some plumbing pipes in the basement to get them away from the electrical panel. He got it all done without any issues and got the water turned back on so we are good to go again this season.
While he was in the basement, up in the floor joists he came across several old ledges from the 1900's. There are a number of different people's names as well as businesses, banks, doctors, reverend, etc. There are two columns titled "tolls" and "rent". It would seem that these ledgers where used to record monies taken in for telephone use and room rental.
Sometime ago, I had commented on a metal telephone sign that our neighbour has hanging on his garage. He told me he got it from an old shed/barn that used to be on our property before they tore it down. Over the door way, in the house, to what were using as a dinning room, there was a little office sign. We just thought this was something the pervious owner had put up but now we are wondering if there used to be a telephone/telegraph off in the house during 1900???

Wow! Too bad they weren't sacks of silver coin of the Dominion. There's a couple here in Everett who were restoring a house dating back to the Nineteen Teens; they removed the plaster and lath in a bedroom and discovered several small sacks of silver dollars stashed behind. Unfortunately, that was the only room that had them, as they went through all the other walls between the studs and didn't find any others.

Cool Fannie! I think you have a historic building there. The only proper thing to do now is rip it down and look for money in the walls and secret hiding places.

When I ripped the floor up in my house, I found newspaper from 1948, including a full page Tucker add listing all the dealers in Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Road Island.

Our house in Illinois was so old the boards were real 2X'8's, 2X4's etc. They even had the square nails with square heads. The wiring was those two separate wires on ceramic insluators in the attic. The light switches were round on and off buttons. I loved the old door knobs. Fancy glass and brass. Even the heat registers were brass or something gold and shiny. Maybe gold!
I found very old newspapers in the attic and other places. Just tossed them all in the trash.

Cool find, fannie! Few years back I renovated the up stairs bathroom, ripped it out to the bare studs. Inside the wall someone left a complete news paper from 1958, complete with a black and white cartoon rambler wagon ad.
