Hi .. i'm new to this Station Wagon Site but am not new to wagons .. i love them. I started out with a 1985 Olds. Custom Cruiser Wagon then after that an 88 Custom Cruiser Wagon. I then switched gears and went to a 1989 Mercury Grand Marquis Wagon, then a 1990 Grand Marquis Wagon. What came next was a 1988 Buick Electra Estate Wagon which i just purchased. Best cars on the road are Wagons .. hands down. Anyway .. just want to say hello to you all and hope to talk to some of you here. ..... Pinkie.
Hi. Welcome. I'm a 24 year old and I have a 1990 Mercury Grand Marquis, bought in August 2014 from the original owner when it had just rolled over 230k on the clock (although that's probably not the right reading as the speedometer's off; reads 59 when I'm going 55.)
Welcome Pinkie. Glad you could join in. I'm a 15 year old snot nosed boy dreaming about getting my learners permit and tearing up the highways.
My 1990 was the same way, had 43k when i bought it but the speedo head had been changed. The previous owner figure it was 143k, but i will never know because it stopped working a month after i bought the car. So, i replaced it with a used one from the wreckers, damn thing stopped working again after about 4 months. Car reads 86k but i figure the car has probably over 300k on it. One of Fords Better Ideas, put plastic gears and toy race car electric motors in the speedometer cluster. The gears spin so fast they melt and surprise, no speedometer or odometer.
Thanks and good luck with the drivers permit, i'm 61 now but man, couldn't keep me out of cars when i was your age. Got my beginners licence @ 16 yrs old, been driving ever since. So go burn up the Highways and enjoy.
Ooh, thanks. Now there's one of the things I could improve about it, I did hear that I could replace those gears with brass ones from a police vehicle if it's not already done. I have to say though, ModelT1 is joking with you.
