What speeds did you run? I accidentally :LOL:got my 3.6 GM V-6 up to 100 MPH when passing. It cruised for hours at 80 MPH and felt like 40. :yup:

Shoot, you should've flown me in; I would've happily taken the photos in exchange for the ride!

My accidental 100 MPH was on a two lane hilly county road passing a line of cars and trucks. I just happened to look at the speedo when I pulled back in. May have been slightly faster in mid-pass.

When I told my kids they got upset that grandpa went over 55 MPH in a family car.

Finally getting around to replacing the rear fillers on the Way Back Machine. The fillers were the one glaring issue I knew about prior to purchasing the wagon, and sometime in 2013 I bought Fiberglas replacement pieces from Replica Plastics. If i had to do it over again, I would have gone with ABS plastic instead. Has to buy a bunch of paint supplies, and the process included wet sanding, sandable primer, adhesion promoter, color top coat, then clear coat, all in multiple coats. Right now I have 2 more coats of clear to apply. Installation tomorrow, which will require removal of the bumper assembly.

I've gone over 125 in a family car, although I was not a grandpa then. I would go that fast today as well. Your kids are wimps.

Well, day three now dealing with the rear fillers on the Way Back Machine. What a mess!
I'm going to make a thread in the Cosmetics & Restoration section once I get done, but suffice it to say this is a lot more involved than originally thought, all due to the HORRIBLE product from Replica Plastics.

I gotta be honest, guys. I really haven't done much for the wagon lately. Ol' Beastie's been parked in the back yard for quite some time, and my focus lately has been on repairing my most recent purchase: a 1987 Chevy Suburban. I'd be glad to share details & photos on that, although it's more of an SUV. Granted, it is licensed as a station wagon...

Anyways, the last thing I did for the wagon was buy a stereo. That may or may not work. Also, it's an 8-track player. Not even sure if 8-track players were available for the '77 model, but I don't care. It'll be unique, and if it works, I still have a few old 8-tracks to mess about with. And I'm pretty sure I've seen a cassette to 8-track adapter in my brother's closet, so I could play more modern formats if necessary.
I haven't really forgotten about you guys, but have just been busy with work and family stuff and haven't stopped by as often as I should.

8-Track players have been around since the late Sixties, so I'm sure someone had one in their Impala wagon at one time or another. My mom's 1980 Silverado pickup had one.
