It's been awhile since I've been here so I thought it was as good as time to contribute to this fun group! Well, my 67 Buick Sportwagon suffered from saggy butt syndrome or "SBS" for short. I suspect being an original 48 year old car, whatever was in this along with the car's cargo area and natural weight has contributed to this problem.... You may have suffered this as well. The car did have a factory load leveling system installed, however the air shocks were long gone and replaced with conventional shocks. I was (after a 1 week search) able to find replacement coil springs to repair this. I've posted a video on my "Radiowild" You tube page with pics of the car and the full story. Enjoy! Thanks. Somewhere I already saw that. Saggy butt is normal for old things and people of age.

It sits nice and level, Bob.
Were your replacement springs standard station wagon springs, or cargo coils? At any rate, $60.00 bucks was a good deal compared to those pirates that "didn't do" springs, just shocks.
What a bunch of incompetent A**holes out there. Even auto parts stores aren't what they used to be.
    Nice looking Sportwagon, BTW. (y)

So true....... I'm aging as well. I was born the same day, month and year as Michael Jackson. So you have an idea of my age.
I've never owned a Ferris Wheel or had a Chimpanzee.

    Jack -
I've had the Sportwagon since the end of April and my Wife and I are driving it all over the place! It's just a sign of the times where things are always changing, not necessarily for the better. I actually found a local here who had a 67 Grand Sport rag top and sold him the old wagon springs for 30 bucks, and they look great on his ride. Yes.... the good, old days. Where sex was safe, and you didn't need a seat belt! :)

I must be even older. Mom actually did have a Chimpanzee, I rode a few ferris wheels, but don't remember ever wearing a seat belt during sex.:rofl2:

    Bob,
It's good to know that you're enjoying the Sportwagon and driving it all over. I always had a thing for those cars.

Glad you were able to sell the springs locally.

Yeah, I know what you mean about the good old days. I never thought I'd hear myself say or think that. It's a whole different day and age out there. I can't say that I'm really enamoured with it.

Like my parents and grandparents, back in their day things didn't look all that good. But comparing the time I grew up and now those really were the good ole days. At least I could drive down the street and not get the finger and didn't have to worry about getting shot at the fast food joint.
Coke was a drink in a bottle and my gay friends were happy not strange. I could tell a Ford from a Packard from a block away by the look and sound. Men in uniforms pumped gas, checked the oil, battery, tires, and washed the windows with a smile. I got double stamps on Wednesday and free things with ten gallons of 100 octane gasoline. All while I sat in my car.
If my car had a saggy butt I could go to my choice of many American auto parts stores and buy new American springs and shocks with a guarantee.

Don't want to deviate from this fun, so let me throw in my 2 cents. Most people call it progress. If progress comes at watching half the planet stare at their phones, I'll just stick with playing with old cars, and listen to my Mets on my 1938 Zenith shutter dial 9 tube radio. You know, Dick Tracy had a "wrist radio". I know he wasn't checking his "Facebook" status every 5 minutes! This is what I do.....
