So, I'm not an owner of a wagon - yet. I do love the wagons though and I'm working on getting into a 63-65 Chevy Impala or Ford Ranch wagon. We recently finished a restoration on a vintage trailer and a cool wagon would really complete it. For now, I'm just seeing what's out there and learning more about the various models.
EJ1963, goog luck with finding a longroof Chev or Ford but for now how about some pics of your vintage from Downunder
Welcome to the forum. This is the place to become addicted to station wagons. Good luck on your search. We'd enjoy some photos of your RV also.
Thanks Dennis, no idea how to post a picture of the trailer here - tried and no dice. Will take a lot of working to get the wife to say yes to this one. She spent a lot of time seeing the countryside from the back seat of one of thedse beauties so you know how that goes. More to follow.
All the more reason for her to enjoy cruising and long trips in a nice station wagon now. She can even sit up front. Maybe drive if she's good!
OK, so after some time away, I finally got the trailer done and here are some pictures of our finished 1963 Shasta on its first voyage - sadly, it was towed with a newer Chevy silverado and not the classic long roof you also see attached here - that is the dream car by the way and the dream color as well.
That's a great looking Shasta. Long ago in a land far away called Illinois my daddy and his best freind used to sell Shasta RV's of that vintage as a hobby. My young bride and I always dreamed of owning one. Over many years we've owned many RV's of all types and sizes. But never a Shasta. Still it does not hurt to dream. There's a long roof wagon out there waiting to make your dreams come true. In the meantime that's a great photo. I can almost taste the fish caught from the lake and fried in the camper as you sit on the boulder drinking a cold one and having a good time.
Dennis, thanks again for responding on my earlier inquiry abut the trailer hitch. I realize its been 2 years at least since I first introduced myself and without a wagon. Just got it home day before yesterday - found it in the bay area and a local CA car too. Best part is the wife actually loved it when she saw it in person. Exterior and interior are done which is nice and no rust. the new 302 is ok but the carburetor needs tuning and the AOD transmission shifts real hard so I'm having that checked out. will also replace the points ignition for now and then see what else needs doing. Will need disc brakes at some point too.
Keep in mind, your wife can sit up front if she's a good girl. Maybe if she's real good she can drive in a safe place .
