Hey guys obviously new to the forum, just wanted to say hello! I picked up a ford country yesterday. Always wanted a old ugly wagon "boy did I find one" to costomize ,my plans are keeping the patina look and going with air ride and 22". I'll post some more pics when I pick it up in the next few days. Anyone put a 66 ford country on bags? Or try to tuck 22"
to the group. There is no such thing as an ugly station wagon. Some are just prettier than others. Good luck on your Ford. Personally the only thing I care for on bags are old people.
I understand it's not a popular choice but I'm looking for something completely diffreant than most have - it's like going to a car show filled with c-10 trucks and 60's camaros ... You won't see something that hasn't been done by 12,000 other people. I'm looking to build a wagon that out of the box... Just a fun project.
You'll soon find out that there are lots of old Ford wagons bagged and with large wheels. The only way to be different is to have something original. Suicide doors, in da weeds, patina, surf boards, chopped and dropped, limo tinted windows, fake wood, etc. has all been done and redone.
Yeah I know I'm not reinventing the wheel but here in California when you go to a car show its 70's c-10 Chevys and 60's camaros - same car over and over different color different rims- i wanna stick out and drive down the street looking like this
Ahhhhh when you get stuck next to a mustang :banghead3::banghead3: they really hate when you tell them "my girlfriend drove one in high school"
I believe the car is correctly called a Ford Country Squire. Ford never made a car called simply the "country" that I'm aware of.
1965 Ranch Wagon I stayed with a more stock look on my 1965 Ranch Wagon. She was the Bell of the Ball at this car show. I can send more pics if you need any ideas!
Welcome! Looks like a great starting point. Looking forward to your progress, the stance, and the 22s!!
I think it's a great starting point as well - I was able to find all the trim, door handles in the back seat. I believe I have every part minus the front bumper. There's not a single rip on the seats. It was sitting on a old mans ranch who had passed away and had been sold the kids didn't see what I seen in it so 500 bucks and it became mine.
Welcome Tripleaap! Congratulations on your acquisition. I like to see more 66 wagons. I am one of the managers of the 1966 Ford full-size registry, and I'd like to check to see if your car is already registered, and add it if not. Would you consider posting an image of the dataplate on the driver's door? If you have any reservations about it, you can send me a private message. I would also encourage you to visit the registry's Facebook page - "1966 Ford Full-Size Registry" https://www.facebook.com/groups/606662076068850/ There is also a "zombie" webpage for the registry < 66ford.fordregistries.com > . I call it zombie since it's not been updated in 10 years, although we have plans to revamp it and get it back up to speed. In any case, there is still a large amount of information in there. But the founder of the registry is a wealth of information and contacts. On a side note, if you any interest in putting the side moldings back on the car, there is a complete set on Craigslist right now - http://seattle.craigslist.org/kit/pts/5128418874.html A little pricey, but probably a pretty good deal for the complete set since no one makes reproductions.
Thanks for the info , I'll look into that and shoot you a pm. The moldings are complete and in the back of the car. The only thing missing is the rear window, passenger side window and front bumper.
