The Panther wagons have a dual sump pan. Most places have never seen one. Check the inside of the oil filler regularly. If you see what looks like mushroom soup, yiu have a problem. The issue, I suspect, is that over the winter the engine warmed just enough that condensation formed, but never enough to boil it back off. Normally it is sucked into the PCV system. Some dispensation is normal in the tail pipes, especially when the car has not been driven a lot. Again, the water needs to boil off.

I took the Roadmaster out of the garage for this year's maiden voyage today. I need to use up the stabilized fuel in the tank before I go for my emissions test. So long as the rain stays off of my leaky vista window all will be well.

I remember driving old cars with a leaky windshield. Driving and hoping it would't rain was always a gamble. Often I lost!:p

Do I need to use up the fuel in Lil Sis's tank quickly? Is it important to use up this gas and refill with fresh gas? Cause I can be talked into a road trip very easily.:p

Yes after checking the oil, water, and tires, take a short drive to make sure everything is fine. Then fill up the tank and drive until most of it is gone. Refill and go home. :D

I don't believe that the fuel needs to be consumed too quickly. I'm eager to use up the tank that's in there because I had fuel stabilizer in the tank for the winter. I feel like I want to make sure that I'm using clean fuel without any additives when I go for my emissions test.

Actually it's a fact that taking a car out of storage, filling the tank, and driving directly to the drag strip making repeated quarter mile passes is a good way to clean out the fuel system.
If there is no drag strip handy driving 5MPH over the legal limit on the expressway works well. :biglaugh:

Well last week the 78 Cat Safari developed a bad Vacuum leak, high surging idle, and the gas mileage dropped from 18-19mpg to around 7. Bad EGR Valve replaced it today, cured not only the idle and MPG but now the Cruise Control is working!!!!!! Bing Bing Bing Bonus!!!!!!!

That was a big change in MPG. Some complain about the cost of EGR's and other sensors. But this shows it pays to change them as needed!:thumbs2:

I bought what was probably the last NOS 79 Zephyr/Fairmont steering in the world this winter, but I wanted to wait until warmer weather to install it, so I finally did it! Now I'm paranoid that it's gonna crack, which I know is inevitable, but I'm hoping it'll last for a while...
