    Brings back bein 15 yo memories......my first car was a 65 VW Bug that I resurrected from a field car to street legal again and in PA that's a feat since they have state inspection!

    They did that because the stuffed shirts at Ford believed 4-doors were necessary for families. I would've loved to be a fly on the wall when Iacocca saw that.

    My mother had one of those monkeys. After it bit my finger I never got close to it again! Most monkeys are not friendly or safe. :(

    That was Herbie's model year! Fun Fact: Dean Jones, the actor who played Jim Douglas in "The Love Bug," owns the 'stunt' Herbie from that movie, and, I think, still daily drives it.
