Our local paper puts out a mag called the Yakima Magazine. In their latest issue they have an article about vintage camping trailers, vintage trailer rallies and more specifically the rally that is held in Roslyn each year. I have been wanting to attend this particular meet for a while, but the last two summers something "more important" has been going on the same weekend. Two years ago my youngest brother graduated from college and last year my wife's sister got married. I figured I had better go to those. Anyway, I thought I'd share the link to the online article. http://www.yakimamagazine.com/2015/01/09/vintage-trailers-rallies-retreats/ I know Saf57 and the Rev have attended this rally in the past and it looks like a great family function. I hope to get up there this year with the F-100 and the old Aristocrat Lo-Liner. According to the article this year The 2015 Roslyn Vintage Trailer Rally is planned for June 19-21 at Runje Field. trailer rally Thanks for posting the article. We own a 1961 Shasta Astrodome. We took the family to the Starlight classic campground in Canon city CO. a few years ago and loved it. Old trailers, old cars, interesting and fun people share their love of a time gone by. Her is a link to the Starlight. http://www.starliteclassiccampground.com/events.html:)
Check out tincantourists group for lots of photos and information about old RV's and places to camp. I don't belong but we've gone to several of their rallys. Always wanted an old trailer or motorhome. All we have is this old 1969 UltraVan.
Less than 400 Corvair powered UltraVans were made. Around 40 with small block Chevy. powerglide, and boat V-drive, then Toronado 350 complete drive train until the end of production. Even with the Corvair engine they could run 65 MPH and get 16+ MPG. Sadly low octain fuel and few Corvair mecanics leave most people changing to later drive trains. That was my plan.
You're welcome. I did check out the link to the starlite campground. looks like a cool idea and a good time. After I posted this I checked out their facebook page. It has a large number of photos from last years rally. I am really hoping everything works out and we can go this summer.
I checked out the Starlight campground also, thank you. When we head off to MN this summer, I'm thinking that would be a great place to stay.
The plan is to go to the trailer trash bash with the family this year. Great trailers, cars , and people!
Yes it runs. Only has aroud 45,000. But sat so long it's not dependable and I think it's sold so we don't have to move it when..... and if we move. I also checked out the Starlight campground. After having an RV most of our married lives we are now trailerless except for the old motorhome. But we still qualify, we are trailer trash! In fact the 20 years we've lived in Florida we are redneck trailer trash. And that's actually a good thing!
The nice thing about the trailer trash bash is that there are cabins and tent sites as well. The great thing about this campground is that you can reserve one of many vintage campers to stay in.
I had lots of plans. But most were V-6 GM complete rear wheel drive units in place of the Corvair set up. With diesel fuel so expensive any diesel is not worth the extra expense to install. Besides I've smelled enough diesel fumes in my lifetime. As for the Perkins and similar engines it is too tall for the space under the rear bed.
