    Thanx Only1Balto and everyone else for the kind comments. Still lots to do. Maybe when the migraines calm down I can get back to working on it. I have the hood pin/latch system so I can finish that closeout panel I was working on and get rid of the stock hood latch mechanism and save some more weight and have it look better.

    Keep it up, Stickman. That's going to be one fast wagon. It'd be hilarious if you got the whole exterior back to factory stock original and you could blow away all the Mustang GT/ Camaro drivers from any traffic light. Can you imagine their reactions?!!

    I have a question im looking to do something similar to my caprice wagon. the only issue I have is there are 4 contacts on the pigtail for my alternator. current drive train is a 307 and 200r4 switching to 1978 chevy 350 and 700r4

    I figured it out. But I do have another question. Would the 200r4 fit a SBC? I'm trying to get all my info up front because this is my daily driver so I'm going to have to be able to do the complete swap in a day or two.

    A 200R4 fits the same way a Powerglide or 350 auto does. Only difference is the rear crossmember and mount are a few inches farther back and you will need the electric torque converter kit. all simple. That's what went in my 55 Chevy with Powerglide.
    Don't waste your time and money on the larger 7004R.
    As for alternator the simplest swap is to a one wire alternator.

    Awesome thank you so much you've been a huge help. I hate to be a pain but I have one more question I don't have the money or the time to run headers and dual exhaust plus my car has a brand new exhaust from the y-pipe back. So my question is would Chevy manifolds bolt up to that y-pipe

    You'll want to make sure the 200-4R has the dual bellhousing bolt pattern if you decide to use it. Some have the BOP and Chevy pattern on them. Others only had the BOP pattern. The 700R4 only came with the Chevy bellhousing pattern.

    The 200-4R may or may not fit. It came in BOP and Chevy/BOP bolt patterns. Not exactly sure what an electric toque converter is. Now you can buy a bell housing adapter if it is only a BOP bolt pattern bell housing.

    I will bet NO. the exhaust will dump in slightly different positions.

    Love the look of your wagon! I just bought a very clean 84 with 60k on it, excited to work on it a bit;-)
