Also, compression ratios were reaching abysmal lows by 1975. Big engines producing less power, further encouraging the foot to press harder on the pedal.

    Ahha! lol.

I guess the addition of converters didn't help. Hmm, my '72 must have a '75 engine in it. If they had of offered a 402 in '75, I would believe that. lol. :p

Well, I'm told one out of 137,323 is in a barn somewhere. I may call the garage back in a few days and ask.

If you are serious why did you not pursue this further rather than "I may call", offering $ just before Christmas ( and having the $ at the time) works well at times as many want/need the $ just before the holidays. wait till next year just a few short days away, sure they may still need the $ to pay for the holidays but the price may be $$ after, just because.

BUT if you don't have $, don't waist anyone's time. I've never bothered someone for whatever/anything when I don't have the $ on hand as from experience with tire kicker dreamers HATE when someone waists my time when they don't have $ in there pocket at the time......

Lack of experience? (On my part.) I don't want to give a laundry list of "reasons I didn't do it" but there you go. What you're saying does make sense to me now that I think about it.
