This an amazing picture! That someone was able to catch the accident happening...is it a scene from a movie? The camera angle seems to be high. The white Dodge(?) beside the trailer, I believe slid in that way. But the beige Caprice seems to be travelling the wrong direction. The fellow in the convertible appears to be enjoying the drive. Are they all on the opposite side of the road???

    Interesting picture indeed. :yup:

Yup - movie scene. I remember reading about this one, but I forget what movie it was. Quite a scene to film, shot on some freeway near downtown L.A. I believe. There was some reason why it was shot 'backwards' (for example, eastbound traffic in normal westbound lanes, and visa-versa). I'll do a bit more digging and get back to you......

Fouund it. The movie is 'To Live and Die in L.A., starring William Peterson (the original CSI guy), Willem Dafoe, John Pankow. Directed by William Friedkin.

Here's the chase scene, part 1 (NSFW):

Part 2 (NSFW)(This is the good stuff):

Here's a short 'Making of' (the chase scene)

Not sure why they filmed part of the chase 'backwards', but William Peterson mentions in the 'making of' video that they had the use of an entire freeway for a whole weekend.
