Yes it is. I love it in black too. Hard to believe the shape it's in and a driver. Did you get the wheels and tires yet?

I got the wheels but waiting on the tires. 16inch chrome smoothies and waiting on 3 inch white wall radials.

you know, pictures make the paint look way better than it is. its a 20 footer AT BEST. it prolly woulda looked better just nice, clean primer.

What a beauty MadMooks. I am going to guess you have had a chance to look into the history of the 57 Olds a bit more by now. I have not been on the forum for a while. I owned a 57 Fiesta for a few years, loved the car but it was not my hubby's preferred era of vehicle to work on (vacuum operated stuff etc) so we sold it to a 'now friend' in Pennsylvania 2 1/2 years ago. We are now working on a 61 Olds Fiesta wagon.
Anyway, if I remember correctly the J2 option was a dealer installed option on any of the early 57's and I believe you could later order it as a factory option....... or was that only on the 58's it could be ordered from the factory?

I did have a bunch of info about the car, documents etc and gave them to the new owner. Since I had a total computer crash I lost all my stuff but could likely get Randi (new owner) to send documents to me. I had a dealer list of available options plus a number of articles and reviews done on the car at the time of its release etc.

My car was a Super 88 as yours appears to be, had every option except it did not have a Wonder Bar radio (had push button that was part of the Super 88 pkg) nor did it have a power seat. It did have factory 'under the hood' Air Conditioning (not under dash dealer installed type) PW PB PS, Autotronic Eye, split rear folding seat, remote operated side mirror, map lights, (cant remember the entire list) plus a dealer installed factory roof rack which I promptly took off!

The Oldsmobile Club of America actually have a 1957 only club which is a great source of info.

Great memories, all the best with your car & post some updates when you have the chance!

thanks for the info! appreciate it.

I don't know a ton about these cars as this is our first oldsmobile. we really took liking to the 4 door hardtop wagons, especially the ones with the stainless roof trim.

I plan to change the wheels/tires shortly and lower it some, but for the most part just keep it as you see it. its driver quality at best. the pictures show it a little better than it actually is. I want to get it mechanically dialed in. go thru the brakes, fuel, wiring, etc. just where it can be very dependable. its a great car, and needs to be shown on the road. 99% of people out there have no clue what it is. pretty neat!

We went with classic rims, trim rings and centre caps w wide whites from Diamond Back (they don't yellow) I also blacked out the front grill behind the Oldsmobile letters, gave Eddie a more aggressive look. All the copper tubing in the engine bay is factory for the A/C. Eddie had the oil bath air cleaner so we opted for the 58 olds/caddy air cleaner.

I miss that old beast, loved that car. Such is life, we move on. You can check out my other wagons in the Garage section.

BTW MadMooks, I emailed Eddies new owner and asked him to email me the documentation I had collected on the 57's and I will forward to you when I get it. PM me your email address.

That is a beauty. Maybe some new weather seals and keep that gas tank full, then drive it!
Looks like an eight footer to me.

58, cool, looks like a beauty! Mind me asking 'what ball park' the price was in? The chrome alone on that car would cost thousands and it looks great!
