Anyone else here have a 65-67 Impalla. I'm thinking about buying this one.

To buy or not to buy is the question
Well most likely our questions will be is it a reasonable price and can you afford it?
Is the body as good as the photos look?
    How is it mechanically?
    And-----what are you waiting for?

It is a California born and raised wagon and that is where it is coming from. I am in Ohio. So I would have to take the owners word on condition. 99.9% rust free. Everything is said to work. New wheels/tires/brakes. 327/Powerglide. AC car ,missing compressor. Good glass, new front windshield. No leaks, No smoke. Clean interior. Original paint. I like the paint the way it is also. 8,500

From the description and those pictures it seems good. You need someone to check it out.
A rebuilt O 'Reileys compressor is under $200.
I always question why people change tires, wheels, etc then sell. But even in your own town buying a car is a gamble. So we are back to to buy or not to buy or bye!

. Just because it is a Ca car does not mean rust. Depending where it was most of its life.If it was by the coast could be a rusty POS. Seems half the cars "found" are barn find Ca cars. Get a lot of pics or best have someone look at it . If it is in So Cal and close I could go take a look for you.

You might find a local appraiser to do a review of the car. Probably cost a couple of bucks (?$200?) but you'd want an appraisal anyway for insurance, and if it is good great, if not, a few bucks wisely spent.

It does look decent in the pics but price and pics of the rest of the car would help you determine if it is good value.

There was a guys who used to market California 567 Chev's to the rest of the country. What he often forgot to mention is that many of them lived for periods of time in areas where salt was used and rust was an issue. He eventually got smacked and disappeared from the car scene in disgrace, but just a caution.

Looks good to me. The one question I might have is you said new brakes. Does that mean new stock brakes or are they upgraded?

I assume the brake are just factory stock. If I was to get it I would do a brake upgrade down the road. I really need to find one closer to me with in driving distance. I would be basically paying 6500 for the wagon and 2000 for the wheels/tires. Thats one way to look at it. Shipping on top of that.

I'm not a '66 fan, would hold out for a '65 myself. But for what this wagon is I think the price is a little high, and it is all the wheels' fault. Some people think they can take a $3000 classic car and put $1500-$2000 of wheels on it and triple its value.

I agree on the holding out for one within an afternoon's drive. They are out there somewhere. You'd save on the expense of going out of your way and the possible grief of a wasted trip.
Besides I'm a tight wad and can't see paying someone else to look at a car. I've never gotten an apprasial. I just take other adds and tell insurance what I think it's worth or paid. I tend to under insure then add on later.
Keep looking. Ohio may not be paradise but it's far from Hell....,Michigan.
