Thanks everyone your all very supportive. I've been having huge buyers remorse today. But by lunch time I pulled up my big girl boots and got busy.
I have an appointment Wednesday morning for a pre inspecting check at our local garage. While that is happening I'm going to the DMV to have the name transfer completed. I can't get it registered until she is inspected and knowing what we know so far(without the preinspection) we will have a few repairs to do.
I also have an appointment on Thursday to have new tires put onto the rims. Hubby is planning to remove all the wheels and I'm going to take them to the tire center to have them replaced and balanced. We made a bunch of phone calls but I managed to find 14" white walls at a reasonable price.
Depending on what the perinspection reveals we'll make our next plans from there. I'm getting a bit excited now. :dancing:

Is there a difference between a Crusier and a Ciera? The car has Cursier on the side and you mention Ciera and I know you know your stuff, I'm just curious.

The "Cruiser" was kind of Oldsmobile nomenclature for station wagon. The Custom Cruiser was the full size rear wheel drive car. I lost track of how many names they had for the Cutlass Ciera. I guess yours would still just be called a Cutlass Cruiser or Cutlass Cruiser Ciera or Cutlass (Ciera) Cruiser or Ciera Cruiser or whatever.

    OK, I've figured it out......

The car line your wagon is from is the Olds Cutlass Ciera. For the wagon though, it appears that Olds honchos thought that naming it the 'Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera Cruiser' was a bit too long, so they dropped the 'Ciera' name out of the equation - for the wagons only. So the wagon is officially:

    Oldsmobile Cutlass Cruiser

Now, back in 1983, GM was still building their mid-size wagon on the old rear-drive platform, so a 'Cutlass Cruiser' would have looked like the wagon on this brochure page:

The newer front-drive platform came out in model year 1982, but the wagon version didn't come along until model year 1984.

    or

    Swell longroof

    or

It does not stand for anything. SL was the designation that G.M. tacked on to denote the trim level.

When you figure that out then let me know what the SX on the Cutlass Supreme SX stood for too.

Dammit you are making me want to get one of these to replace my wife's car.
