thanks man. the previous owners bought it from an estate sale back in 2009. they said they had no intentions of buying it but bought it so the "dealers wouldn't get it" . the car just sat for 5-6 years. they had told me the story they got was everything was gone thru and rebuilt. the car doesn't leak and it fired right up so maybe they were right.

we usually don't reveal the price we pay for cars, but with this one the price is something to be proud of, and its proof that there are still good deals out there on rare cars under 10k that you can get in and enjoy.

thanks for all the comments! :pub:

Exactly how I feel about deals like this. Even a common older wagon for under $10,000 ready to drive is a good deal. It's nice to know that you and others actually care about older vehicles. It's not just the money involved.

KK, I agree with you completely, I love the style of the late 50's, and those cars are expensive by themselves, but the wagon versions are even more spendy.

As soon as I saw this thread I thought "Oh man, Marshall is going to die when he sees this"

It's a beutiful car for sure. I LOVE the dash. Clean it up and drive it and enjoy it my friend.

    Congrats.

That is certainly gorgeous, and with the aforementioned elbow grease, it'll just look good as-is. Nice to see it has working bells and whistles.

That dash looks great! Can you do detailed pics of it? I know I'm asking a lot....but we rarely get to see a 57 Olds on here! :D

Ah, it has a 3-speed Hydra-Matic! I had a customer years ago who had a '55 Star Chief Custom Catalina with the 4-speed auto trans which had no "P"; you had to set the parking brake to keep it from rolling away. But like this H-M, the "R" was all the way down the scale.

as far as I know it is. they blocked off the front and rear carb and are just running it off the middle one. also have the tri power air cleaner as well with the factory sticker on it.

the car also came with a spare mani/ tri carb set up. I haven't ran the numbers on the block to see if its a factory tri power motor yet. I don't think the VIN or firewall tag has any mentioning of it coming with tripower. so ur guess is as good as mine. ive heard that a decent amount of super88s came with the tripower, so it wasn't s super rare option, but cool to have nonetheless. I don't think it would have killed the deal without it.
