Were those notchbacks called "Transporters"? Ah, I see in Wiki, the type 3 family that included the "Squareback" which we saw a lot more of than the "Notchback." I remember seeing a couple notchbacks though back in the day. http://iimages.info/view/image/id/4471456078#!Cheely+Motor+Company,+Volkswagen,+East+Point+GA This was an awesome VW dealer from back in the day in East Point, GA. We looked at the Buses all the time there but never got one.
Transporters were Buses Mike, the Notchback was actually considered a Type IV, just an odd car in gerneral had a very "Corvair" look to it.
I can't remember what the Notchback looked like. Had several early Beetles and one Squareback. I do remember seeing the Hunchback at Notra Dame.
I need all the aid I can get. I believe I've seen those back near Peoria, Illinois long ago. Several guys had VW's shipped home there from service. It was cheaper to buy in Germany and pay shipping than buy locally. This would have been better for our two rugrats than the Beetle.
