There's a wagon there that I would like to see but it's a hassle and expensive to get to it to see if it's worthwhile. Just checkin' to see if anyone is near there that could do a walk around it with me on the phone and do a drive in it. For a fee, of course.

Krash Kadillac...You, without knowing it, have just brought up a sore subject. I've been dealin' with the guys on that wagon for 3 months. Let me tell you...they are absolutely misrepresenting that car on Ebay and I feel sorry for the person that reads that ad and buys the car thinking it's a "showroom" car. The car has NO headliner and the foam backing is all handprinted and flaking all over. I think they tried to glue it up for Ebay and will call it "sagging a little". All bumper fillers are missing. All outside trim rubber is dried, cracking and falling out in chunks. The paint is shot. The interior chrome is shot. The spokes are missing pieces. The seats have tears and are worn and that is VERY unusual for these Buick wagons' interiors. All Electra's I've ever seen (and I've see a LOT of them) have the touch panel electronic temp control. For some reason, this one does not. In the ad they say all electrics are good but they DON'T say that about the elecTRONICS. There is a piece of paper glued over the radio.(?) The check engine light was on. I don't know about now. Usually no biggie. But they DID sell the car once while I was talking to them about it and the car came BACK a month later. They would not deal one dime off the price of the car even the second time around AND...(as an ex lot owner, this is what really irritates me to no end about a lot of dealers)...they have a $400 doc fee! Yup...costs you $400 on top of the inflated car price to have a girl make some copies. And another $18 for something.....I don't remember what. I have always refused to deal with a dealer that has those phony "doc" fees. The only redeeming factor about this wagon is that it's a southern car. The Ebay ad is blatant misrepresentation. Now...I have PICTURES to prove everything I have said about this car. If I knew how to do it, I would post them here now. I will look into it and try. If anyone wants to see them I will email them to you. I think I can do that. In SPITE of all the problems with the car and the "bend over" fees.....I AM watching it on Ebay. If it stays low enough with the added "bend overs" I will go for it. The expense of getting the car home and all the resto the car will need, however, will, in my opinion, have to keep the price way down. One other thing.......I don't like red interiors. :disagree:
Annnyyywaaayyy.....I look at ALL kinds of wagons and I don't want this thread to get way off subject. The one in Brooklyn is a '94 Buick. LT1 engine. SO...anyone near Brooklyn that could possibly help for a fee?

There is a 1984 Buick Electra wagon with 58,000 miles on ebay right now. Besides a little wear to the woodgrain, it looks nice from the pictures. Item number: 180340772786

This one has the slider temp contros as well. Kinda odd that it has cloth front and pleather rear. Looks like a nice car though, very clean and well taken care of, even though the pics suck.

I really hadn't paid much attention to the ad on the '88 Buick - just took a quick look at the pictures. Looking at the ad again, I can see why you are ticked about this one. The ad has the minimum of details, and the photos show none of the deficiencies that you found out about later. Compare this ad with some others I've seen on E-bay where the good points and bad points are photographed and discussed IN DETAIL.
--- This is a good lesson for everyone to do 'due dilligence' when looking at a prospective vehicle to purchase.
--- And a $400 doc fee? That's outrageous. Most ads I've seen mention something like $125 or so......which seems reasonable.

Even $125 is waaaaaaaaaay too much to charge. I just bought my Roadie in Pennsylvania and the notary fee was $25 and that included a 30 temp tag, this was at a Notary office that does nothing but Notary services. So anything more is just bending you over and givin it to you dry and rough with no chance of a reach around.

Right you both are Krash & Blackfoot. The ad for the Red one at SCOTT EVANS NISSAN in Carrollton, GA is nothing but BS top to bottom. I seriously feel sorry for some unsuspecting person that buys that car believing all the BS these guys are peddleing. I don't know how some of these dealers sleep at night. I really don't. I never charged a dime for doc fees. And I NEVER lied about a car. Didn't have to...picked good one's and if I found something wrong...I fixed it.
RE: the 'Ebay '84...no car ever came from the factory with a cloth front seat and a leather back seat. The leather front seat simply wore out and they couldn't find a good used one in leather so they replaced it with the cloth one they found. And you are right Krash...when buying a car online (or any other way) DUE DILIGENCE is a MUST. And you are right Blackfoot...even $125 is way too much for a doc fee...buying the car should be enough without dealer "bend overs"! And the pix DO suck. That car is not what it seems either.

    RE: Brooklyn wagon help...
I just had a long talk with the lot owner and he gave me some history and did a walk around. This car is no cherry but it is a rare color that I want and in talking with the guy I'm convinced that it can be brought up to snuff. Besides...that LT1 and rear end is coming out for a rebuild with some added attractions anyway. :yup: I have always played with the late '80 Buick wagons and dropped in a built 455...might be time to try the LT1. This car is cheap enough that I could keep it "as is" and still look for what else I might want. Too damn many wagons to think about!

    Silverfox -
From time to time I've had this dream of owning my own car lot. Back in the '60'a and into the 70's there was a large used car lot on Hawthorne Bl. in Inglewood, CA. called Wagon City. I would go over there occasionally and cruise the lot - almost bought one or two, but never made a good deal. When the van craze started, the lot slowly got taken over by vans - first the big Econoline conversions and such, then by the minivans.

Always thought that would be good idea - pick up cars at auction, but specialize in one type.

Hawthorne Blvd!?!? In the mid 70's I ran a nude club there! And another one on Santa Monica in Hollywood. This was after I quit my film/tv jobs. Made more money in the nude bar business!
The used car business isn't as easy as it looks and takes a lot of car knowledge and a lot of savvy.

Yeah - The wife and I lived in Hawthorne / Lawndale when we were first married ('74). I know there were a couple of strip clubs over that way. The one I'm thinking about was near Century Bl, on the east side of the street, maybe dark brown on the outside....

Around '79-'80 I went to a place called the Jet Strip on Imperial near Aviation.

Yeah...near Century. The two I ran were called the Kit Kat clubs. The Bucket...another one...was up the street. Another one next door to us too...can't remember that name. The one on the other side...can't remember the name but it will come to me...was the dark brown verticle wide wood siding one. Knew all the other owners. Had a BALL in that business. Never had so much fun as I did with my regular girls. The Jet Strip was down around the corner a ways.

More than you know, my friend...way more. People tell me that all the time. It also burned me out. So...back to cars again.
