Not too cerebral is it! :rofl2::rofl2:

    Did you study Latin too?

I took it in both highschool systems. The French one was better. For example, every school has a hockey rink. If today was Latin day, the profs would go out and teach while coaching in Latin! I honestly can't remember what we called Hockey Stick in latin. But we broke up trying to find a made up word for it! :rofl2: Or Cigarrette? :rofl2:

That's what everybody's been telling me!..About the Sunbeams...That back when Shelby was making Cobras and helping out Ford with Mustang;GM bought Sunbeam in Canada and started putting 283's and 327's in them. And that, that's where the Sunbeam Tiger came from.GM's answer to the Cobra. They even explained it that way on a Russo and Steele Auto Auction TV show...Now Sunbeam may have started out as a British car company, and GM only bought the part that was in Canada.I don't know.

Might have to go on a Search Binge to dig up some insight. They didn't make a wagon, so I'm not gonna look right now, but I will eventually.

Wasn't there another production Brit sportscar that got a Ford powerplant - a 289 CID??? I hate CRS (Can't Remember Anything). :biglaugh::biglaugh: But it happens when you get over 40.

    Speaking of that... :biglaugh::biglaugh::biglaugh:

My wife's 39th PLUS, PLUS, PLUS birthday is tomorrow. I asked how it felt to be so young today? Those daggered eyes were like a laserbeam! She told me that my gift to her, starting NOW, was to not say another word about it... And thanks for remembering... :biglaugh::biglaugh::biglaugh::evilsmile:

"About the time the Tiger was being launched, Rootes was being taken over by the Chrysler Corp. It was a little chagrined to find a Ford-engined car in its stable, and since Chrysler’s V-8s wouldn’t fit the Tiger, it was discontinued in 1967"

    ya know .... i hate that....stupid politics..

a similar thing happened to my beloved jeep comanche! jeep made a mid-size pickup called the comanche, its only real competetor (size wise) was the dodge dakota.
chrysler bought jeep, the comanche was a far superior truck to the dakota so chrysler killed it.

There was a few up here too! Nice Jeeps!

You gotta wonder how many great vehicles we've lost to the Stockholm syndrome of CEO arrogance.

Love those Comanches!..And now that "they" haven't made them for a while, they fit right into the classification "nice old cars/trucks"...A Fifities pick-up would be nice to have.Make a good fun cruiser. But,if you wanted to actually do some pick-up truck stuff in your nice old truck, you'd want a Comanche too.:yup:

There's a 80s Jeep Commanche pickup sitting in town here, classic 80's looking model brown with the cool side striping and everything on it. I'd love to have it, and the darn things are very affordable 4x4's.

Once volunteered to help a Forest Ranger rehabilitate and maintain a hiking trail.A bunch of Boy Scouts and their leaders showed up too_One of the leaders asked the Ranger if his light green F-150 was a 4X4.He said that,no it wasn't...Then he offered this explaination,"I asked for a two wheel drive truck.I've driven the 4X4's before, and prefer the two wheel drives. In 4X4's,I got myself into trouble I couldn't get out of.In a two wheel drive,I don't do that.I know what they can and can't do,and don't do what they can't do."...Am thinking, where some of you guys live,a 4X4 would be a very good thing at certain times of the year. Two of my sisters live in the Big Bear-Arrowhead area, and need a 4X4 in the winter snow and ice. That kind of thing...I'm also thinking, that if you're using your Comanche to move heavy stuff around,a lot, four wheel drive probably makes that easier to do.:yup: I've been told that front wheel drive is better than rear wheel drive because;it's easier to pull stuff than push it.Well,in a 4X4 Comanche, you'll be doing both, pushing and pulling. And THAT'S just be the BEST!!!:29:

Your Forest Ranger makes a great point. I've only driven a 4X4 front-end loader. But the snow argument for them is good. We just had a major snow and wind period and even the City busses had a tough time driving. Drifting up to 2 feet high across major streets. A Ski-doo would have been better.

Seems we make them do what their limits weren't designed for. Pushing the envelope is good, if it leads to a bigger envelope.

The only reason I want a 4x4 is for snow. Winter's 9 months of the year here and the wagon does fine, but a 4x4 would really put my mind at ease on a lot more things, except for ice of course.

Why doesnt someone make a 4x4 wagon? then youd be able to drive your cherished wagon and go
through the snow and ice easily! id do it if snow wasnt that big of a deal (only 3-4 months here)

As far as I know, the AMC Eagle was the only one that made a 4X4 wagon, unless you count the Jeep Cherokees. I think Subaru did too.

    4X4's and ice

Have heard stories from the Big Bear-Arrowhead area about some people thinking all they need is 4X4 on their truck, and that's enough...And,that,if it's just snow on the road,it is enough...And,sometimes,if the ice on the road is fairly thin and brittle,it's enough then too...But,sometimes,a small stream crossing the road has frozen and the ice is wide and thick, and just only 4X4 isn't enough. It isn't always enough in black ice conditions either...I've also been told,by people who used to live in the USA's Northeast, that;when the ground itself is frozen, even chains and spiked tires don't always help...AMC Eagles and the Subaru Outbacks and Foresters.Maybe an all-wheel drive Audi wagon, and that's about it...Unless,like someone else suggested, you count Jeep Cherokees,Grand Cherokees and the Grand Wagoneers.Maybe that Volvo SUV that's really one of their wagons on an AMC Eagle-like platform. If it comes in AWD or 4X4,it's included...But that's about it,that I know of.:)
