I've been planning out my summer and where I'm going to go with the wagon, and I just wondered if anyone else was planning on fun road trips as well.

Starting in April, I'm planning on taking at least one decent length trip every month through December.
For Easter the wife and kids and I are going going to visit family in Columbus, a 2-hour drive.
The weekend after we're going up to Fort Wayne, IN, where both our parents live, a 4-hour drive
The last week of May all 4 of us are driving up to see my oldest brother and his family in Milwaukee.
In June I'll take the kids up to see their grandparents again.
Middle of July I plan on taking the kids out to southern Virginia for my Grandfather's 91st birthday
In August all my brothers and families will be getting together for a vacation, probably in southern Michigan.
In September if I can find someone to watch the kids, I'm trying to get down to Land-Between-The-Lakes in Tennessee for a camping trip with my buddy and friends
In October the whole family will be driving out to the east coast again to meet up with the Wife's family for their vacation.
And November and December we'll be going up to Fort Wayne for the holidays.

All in all, it looks like might be putting another 10k miles on the wagon this summer. I guess I'm just doing my part trying to revive the traditional summer road trips in the American wagon. :yahoo:

    Looks like you'll be busy!

July 4th, I'd like to drive the wagon to our family lakehouse in Alabama.

In early August, we're planning on taking the wagon to the Street Rod Nationals in Louisville, KY. The Gran Torino Sport club (which I'm a member of) will be meeting there.

In early October we're wanting to go to the Cruisin the Coast event in Mississippi.

Unfortunately, we're not sure if we can do both the Aug & Oct events. Crossing my fingers....

Nothing etched in stone yet, but......

Trying to plan a long weekend jaunt to Seattle (never been) for maybe May. Might take the train.

Another trip to So Cal for the summer most certainly. We'll try to make this one a bit longer. Visit the kidlette, friends and relatives. Probably take a detour on one of the legs to visit mom and sister in Carson City. Hey, if I plan it right, we can do Hot August Nights and do Barrett-Jackson in Reno.

I'm not yet comfortable enough with the Way-Back Machine to take it on a long trip. The Edge will be the mode of transport. Less gas, too.

Don't really have any plans yet but I am hoping to get Fannie in for the rest of her body work. Of course that will be on the back of a hauler...does that count? :p

Going to Niagara Falls, canada. Do a long weekend go nuts in traffic and have a ball. Then a week or two to the Muskokas to do some sight seeing on the lakes in our boat and tubing with the kids. My daughter is soooo not looking forward to traveling in the wagon. LOL when it's over I know it will be the best vacation ever for her with everyone staring at her and all. LMAO

I'm hoping to get over to Griffin, GA during Spring Break to get some "Made in USA" towels and possibly linens at the factory outlet store. Its the old Dundee Mills, Indian owned now I'm afraid. But........at least we still have a plant here. No wagon to take but will "roop" in the next best thing, our '88 Isuzu Trooper, that is if I get the heater core replaced beforehand.

I'll be renewing my GA state park pass and hope to resume hiking this year after coming off a rough foot injury from last year. And yeah....there will be a certain amount of train chasing around the state time permitting this summer. :)

We're planning a couple of short trips. In about three weeks a trip to Palo Alto Canyon. They have an outdoor play called Texas. I saw it about 30 years ago and it was awesome with technology it should be twice as good.

In June we'll go to see the Texas dream cruise stopping along the way to see grandkids:2_thumbs_up_-_anima

With my Fairlane I've got plans to go to Des Moines in July for Goodguys and in June to St.Louis for a Fairlane club show.

With my Outback I've already been to Florida once this year, got another trip planned to Florida again next month and then I'm planning to go to South Padre Island in September.

Do you ever make it up to the Vogel State Park / Blood Mountain area? We'll be there in a couple of weeks. Vogel is one of our favorite places to camp. And we usually hike up Blood Mtn while we're there.

I've been up there quite a few times. But, have only glanced over at the park, etc. I was busy flying by on my F2 Honda I'm afraid, lol. You know how US129 is for bikes?

How's the trails there? That's right near the beginning of the Appalachian trail I think...Springer Mtn area? Any ORV type trails in the area? I have a XR400 I need to start riding now that I'm getting healthy again.

Sounds like some nice trips, both wagon and non wagon. At least you are seeing the USA and other places.
Every year for quit a few, we stopped taking our RV and have been planning our summer trip back to central Illinois in our 1955 Chevy wagon. It's exactly 1000 miles now that I figured the best ways. So far every year there's some reason we end up taking the gas guzzling pick up truck instead.
Again we will be staying and freeloading, first at daughter's family in Pekin, Ill, then son and wife outside tiny Glasford. They beg us to stay with them rather than in RV parks with the camper. Actually we used to spend at least two weeks in son's back yard. But they all have room for a couple of grouchy old folks and treat us like we are at a resort. I raised them right. Well maybe my wife helped a little.
First 12-15 years we only spent around a week back home, every other summer. The rest of the school summer breaks when other son was out we'd camp between Illinois and Florida, the Smokeys, or east coast. Miss the camping but saving in fuel and RV fees. And admit it's great visiting the kids and being treated well.
If we get the AC, wipers, and a few other things hooked up, we just might finally get to take the wagon. Looks like the power steering will have to wait. But at 70 MPH it steers okay.
I think I remember the way. Other than that at our age we don't plan too far ahead.

Lol. Yep, I've seen all the bikes. When I used to have my Dodge Magnum R/T, our Mopar club would drive this route at least once a year, during the Fall.

Trails are nice. We're not big into hiking. We normally hike up Blood Mtn as one of our daily excursions while we're camping in the area. There are sections that are pretty challenging for us light-weights. Yes, it's part of the Appalachian trail, but I'm not sure how near the beginning it is. I'm not aware of any ORV trails off the top of my head.
