I posted it almost a week ago and had the painter and body man look at the pictures. I blew the picture up of the quarter for them to see the damage. Since they have that fancy dent puller that welds to the car and pull the dents out they told me they could get it out for me. So my next dilemma was price. He is asking $1800 which I would not pay but I would go $1000 - $1100 only because I have means of getting the quarter fixed, if I didn't don't think I would pay more than $800. After trying to negotiate a deal all evening I left him with my number and told him I hope he gets his price but in a couple weeks if no takers my offer of $1000 stands if all else is as described.

Others post wagons few times a week for sale in their area but around here they are few and far between with not a lot to pick from. I have found 3 around here in last 3 weeks close enough to not have to factor in to the price of going to get it. I can count on one hand how many wagons I see a month.

Curious, do you know how it got these dents? Have you had a chance to take it for a drive yet? I was wondering about the frame, do you think it might be out of alignment?

Hope the owner gets back to you before to long so you don't have to wait.
    :)

I really don't need it but I was trying to feel him out to see if he would sell it reasonable but he didn't say about the dent but he is set on getting 5 or 6 hundred more than I am willing to pay. I think $1800 is full retail without the dents. I believe my offer to be fair taking into account the body damage and if I didn't have a bodyman/painter with 36 years of experience as a friend that could get that dent out the quarter my offer would have been considerably less.

Those look like typical parking lot dents. The quarter looks like a pole hit it.

But what about the rest of the wagon?

Personally, I think you are better putting that $1,000 or so into your own GREAT box wagon! I'm not all that fond of the tailgate design of the Whales. It was a retrograde step back into the 50s with the glass lifting up ready to bump your head on.

Nah, I bet it happened at low speed, with alcohol involved....looks like parking lot mishap. I bet all the damage on the passenger side happened at the same time.

It's not all that bad. Get a junk yard door and let 1tireman's friend repair the rear panel. We still haven't heard how well it runs or looks inside. Before we spend Dennis' money we need to know.

From the pictures inside was decent not all trashed, seller says runs well and everything works but he would have to come down a good bit for me to go see it. So as far as I am concerned it's a No Deal unless he would accept my offer. I just thought it would be neat to go along with my '83 because they are close to same color.
Even if he does accept my offer my plan is to keep my '83 and finish.

1tireDennis let me tell you a little story about a man named Dennis. Long long ago in a faraway land he bought an old car. He worked on it day and night when ever he wasn't at his regular job. Dennis made progress. He was happy. His wife and family were happy.
Then one day Dennis bought another old car. He began working on it day and night, walking past the first unfinished car. Dennis did well on car #2. But he found yet another car he would rather have so bought it. Cars #1 and #2 sat gathering dust as Dennis worked on car #3.
This happened even more as years passed and dreams changed. Dennis had to build another garage for his many unfinished cars. Soon there were cars everywhere partially finished waiting for Dennis to get back to work on them.
:(Moral of the story, don't buy any more crap until you've finished with the last crap!
This is not a true story.:biglaugh:

Yes it is, I have a 3 room garage because it started out as one garage big enough to hold our cars, then we
took on another project and had to add a room, then someone decided to get
another truck and project so another big room was added on...but as I said he wants more than
I am willing to pay so I am sure this is a no go for me.

I'm gonna get in touch with his Dad and have him give Dennis a DiNozzo head slap for me. Then the next time I go to LA, I'm going to drop off an old pair of size 12 leather boots for his Dad to use as a motivator.
