I found an ad for this Chevy wagon 8 or 9 years in an agriculture newspaper classifieds. There were no pics and little info and when I called the seller had an accent and was hard to understand. Anyway, because at that time I had more time than money me and my wife on a nice Spring Saturday morning headed out for the 3 hour drive with an hour of it on gravel/dirt roads and this is what we found when we got there. He wanted 2700.00 and like I said at that time I had more time than money and it would have had to be trailered home which would have added more expense. The seller had bought it new and it 1980 the cops stopped him and gave him a ticket for a noisy muffler so he just parked it in a steel building he had and now that he was winding down and going to sell the farm decided to let it go. Its all original and had 327 and the third seat.He poured a little gas in the carb and she ran until the gas burned up. It would have need a complete teardown of brakes, gas tank, trans. etc before being able to drive it. If you folks notice it has factory Cruise control and I have never seen a factory cruise on a mid 60's car, has anyone else?

Not only the cruise control, the power windows would be rare as well.

If the floors and frame are solid, I would say $2,700 is a bargain for that Impala.

Oh, I wanted to buy the wagon but at that time couldn't raise the money and I think I could have got it for 2000/2200. It was 2005/2006 when I found it and often wonder where it ended up.

I had what they considered "Cruise Control" on a 64 Grand Prix I had, it was really an Electric Throttle Stop, it would not compensate for going up a hill or other variables. So with it set the car would slow down going up hill, then accelerate rapidly going down hill to what ever speed the selected throttle setting would allow.

It was considered "high tech" by my friends in the mid 70's!!!!!!

We've got a factory cruise control system on the '67 Biscayne, but by then they had moved the controls to the turn signal stalk. I've never seen the controls on the dash like that. As cammerjeff noted it is more of a throttle holding system and doesn't compensate for going up or down hills. The parts are out there for systems if you look around.

That's interesting about the 60's CC systems, I've never seen any detail on them either. That 64 wagon not only had the "cruise" and power windows but I think I see power seat switches in one of the pictures. This wagon seems to have it all except AC. Thanks for posting it up. (y)

I know Pontiac offered a cruise control in '67, not sure about earlier though.

Thanks for the pictures, your wagon for me is right on considering, looks and stance. Now tell us some history and the power train specs and options on her.

Oh yea, if you ever decide you want to sell the wagon, I'm super interested.

I got it from the original owner in North Dakota. He was 74 at the time. He said he only used it for family vacations and for hunting. It has the original 938 desert beige paint. Has 300 horse, 327 with 2 speed powerglide, 6 passenger. ID tag shows 4 options; padded dash, tinted glass, power rear window and the roof rack. Body has no rust. A nice, rare find for the year. I am thinking about thinning my fleet this year, but this wagon will be one of the last ones I sell. Thanks for the interest.
