Alright , I towed her home last nite to get started on getting her
    streetable!!
My youngest son LOVES this wagon ,hes 15 1/2.
thats him in the pictures. He wants to do most of the work.
He will be able to transport his large scale R/C airplanes
around in it. 1st item on list is the tranny, reverse only??
Ive got a few tricks up my sleeve before we take it out and rebuild it .
its a C-6. Im told the pump seal is more than likley dried up.
so were going to try Sea Foam, jack it up and let it run in reverse and drive to circulate the fluid ??
I found were a rodent chewed through a few wires, gonna fix that tonite.
The key will not start it , we have had to jump the solinoid to get her going. There is a small relay on firewall that makes a clicking sound when the key is turned.I hope the damaged wires are the problem.

Its a huge DEJA VUE, for me. My dad and I got to be best friends working on cars together. We eventually built and partnered in a couple race cars, and ran a scrapyard together. Then, when I came out of the Army, we went to university together in Engineering and Business. About the only thing we didn't do together was chase women! He kept chasing my mom, and she let him! :biglaugh:(y)

Love your man-cave. Nice and big, and the clutter gives it that 'family touch! :thumbs2::biglaugh:

Thats funny!! that you said that !!
because I hauled out 2 truck loads of stuff
and re located my Camaro to the other bay
    to acomadate the 18' Beast.
Thats cool that you and your father
shared so much,,,I agree , we talk and learn more about each other
under the hood than any other place !!

Yeah, my house is under severe renovation clutter. Your garage looks palacial in comparison. But I was looking at it because it might just have enough height to build a rotisserie/lift.

We had a couple gals from England about 5 years ago, who posted the plans for a nice car lift that they built and welded themselves. The files are in this post:

    http://www.stationwagonforums.com/forums/showpost.php?p=19791&postcount=3

From this thread. All the cutting instructions and assembly. They were working on a 1958 Buick Caballero wagon (she removed all the pics)
    http://www.lov2xlr8.no/brochures/buick/58buick/bilder/21.jpg

Yours can't weigh that much, those X-frame Buicks were over 5,000 lbs.

That lift makes more sense than a rotisserie in a private garage.

I found rotisserie plans too, but its a 2MB PDF, if you're interested. Here's the link (June and July 2004):
    http://www.harwoodperformance.bizland.com/1941buick/Editorial_20.htm

    From this fellow's car diary:
    http://www.harwoodperformance.bizland.com/1941buick/Log Archives.htm

The lift lets you get under and do stuff, that jacks wouldn't let you. The Rotisserie would let you sand blast and patch the floor without the old rust and dust falling into your eyes and ears. I want both! :rofl2:

Here is a few pictures of the rottiserie lift I built and used
in the same spot were the wagon is now.
    made from scrap I-beam.
and a picture of my Camaro the day me and the boys
started tearing it down ( jusy to show how speedy I am, the little guy in front of the
Camaro is the one under the hood of the wagon )
I say that because the Camaro still is not done ???

If this wagon is to be a driver, I would skip doing anything much on the C-6, and get a good strong AOD. It won't cost any more to rebuild, and give you much better mileage. There is an adapter kit to let it hook up to the old Ford engine. I figure it would be easy enough if you get a mechanical one from the 80s. The electronic ones 'think', and I hate that! I want analog, that does what I tell it, not what it thinks I want based on yesterday!

Good idea, but it's just going to be a bit of a toy.
So , the C-6 is going back.
I found all the rebuild parts locally . For about $190.
I'm able to do a complete job. With torque converter
Seals , steels , and frictions + modulator and bushings.
I ordered a DVD online, a rebuild tutorial.
I've never touched an automatic before , but
    I'm giving it a try,!?!?

    Fixed wires

OK I fixed the wires last nite , and that didn't fix the starting issue.
It wil start if the shifter is almost in drive ??
So I'm thinking ,,neutral safety switch ?
And the snake oil tranny fix didn't work , it was a long shot !!!!
So as I stated ,, I'm rebuilding the tranny.

Looks like a fun project, let us know if the Sea Foam treatment does the trick on the trans.

Got a link to the DVD vendor? If I get the T5 standard trans, I'll do my own, If not, a DVD tutorial would be helpful for my C4. Its in great shape, but they do break down.
