Drove my wagon this evening before the weather turns bad here and decided that my headlights needed replacing - dim and not projecting very far. I knew I had a burned out High beam so it was time to replace. I put in new Sylvania H5001 (High) and H5006 (Low) beam headlights. Best $56 bucks I've spent on the wagon - plus they look better too. Big difference on test drive. Happy New Year!

No pictures and nothing new to report.
Installed a set of new front tires and four 14" trim rings. Not huge, but the changes look different to me. Car is very dependable for being 55 years old, I can't tell you how much I appreciate being the caretaker for a time.

Vacuumed and washed "Surf Rat" and put her to bed. Got a car show this weekend. Hope we sell a bunch of t-shirts.
No way I can stay up till midnight... Happy Newyear!!!!

My license plate light wasn't working, so I took the housing out to try to trace the problem. I tore the left rear cargo trim off and found why a had a horrible squeak that was driving me nuts! Someone had taken the trim off at some point, but when they put it back together they missed a wiring harness holder and it was in the just the right spot to emit this horrible squeak. I popped it back in the hole. Then I checked the washer bottle wiring and found that it was unplugged and pinched between the trim and the cargo area carpet. I plugged it back in and now it works great! I cleaned all the contacts and grounds, but the light still wasn't working, so I ran a couple wires directly from the tail light and spliced them to the light wires (I Mickey Moused it). The factory light was broken and I just couldn't find another one, so I went to the local farm & tractor store and bought a generic one. It fits up inside and the factory screw holes were even just the right distance apart. You can't really even see it unless you look up inside. While I had the housing out I decided to paint it and install the new Mexican reverse light lenses that I got on eBay. They aren't exactly concourse, but they're much better than the clear ceiling light lenses that someone cut out and glued in with liquid nails! I painted the housing with a rattle can, greased the latch workings and slapped it all together. Now my light works and that should keep the guys in blue off me...

    60 New Yorker

Heard of a 60 New Yorker wagon in a local pick a part yard. :) Yep it was there nice solid rust free , but already had pretty much been plundered of just about everything  .413 and trans still there .I got the power seat trim but other than that pretty much just a shell is left. Talked to the yard guys and said it had no vin so the could not sell it whole . Shame it was pretty nice.

Looks great Smokin. I'd forgotten about the chrome reverse wheels; I definitely like the look.

Well let's see... Last thing done to "The Beastie" was replace the brake master cylinder and top off all the fluids. A friend of mine gave me one of those Mexican blankets, which I plan on installing as a seat cover this spring. I renewed the tabs and insurance as well, so once again The Beastie is driveable, both legally and mechanically. Need to replace the turn signal control arm though... Any suggestions?

    Persistant issues slowly getting solved

My 91 OCC had some issues with idle, hot restart, and hesitation at launch. I put a rebuilt TBI unit on it, and that solved some of the idle issues, and Today I put a fuel pump in, and it seems to have solved the hesitation at launch. It still has an issue with uneven idle, but is greatly improved, especially in the low RPM range. I will find out how the hot restart goes tomorrow. It may take a few days for me to feel like I have cured it. Between my two OCCs I have had more weird problems than all of the other cars I have owned put together.

I believe I found the easiest way to install the tank with the car on jackstands. I made sure it was low on fuel, and when installing it, I pushed the tank partially under the axle, put the rear strap bolts in first,, then pulled the tank toward the back of the car, and up onto the straps. Then I put a jack under the front of the tank and jacked it into position so I could install the front bolts. Once I decided to do it this way, it hardly took any time at all to get it up.

The idle still seems to glitch when the compressor comes on, but I have to re-verify that, and figure out if it is actually the compressor, or something related to the compressor.
