Cor blimey. We have a lot of trees around the farm. - had a silver birch come down back in the summer where it had died inside - Just missed the barn.

We've planned to put the cars and the truck in the barn. But i'm sceptical about that. Not sure what to do for the best.

Going to walk around tomorrow and put away / tie down anything that could go flying.

Thanks for all your concern. Will take pics for you and possibly the insurance company!

Yikes. :49: My mom is in England visiting her sisters and their families. One sister is in Newbury and the other Surrey. They, three sisters and a cousin, have left today for a road trip visiting a few villages heading for Wales by Tuesday where they'll be visiting a cousin of mine. I hope they are aware of the weather...

Hope you find a safe place for your loved ones wagonqueen. Also hope you and your family are safe and dry. :)

I'm sure your Mum will be ok, try not to worry. The storms won't be hear until 3am Monday (Tomorrow), so they will easily be in safe keeping. The storm is meant to be worse here in the south, Wales is kind of Midlands, so I'm sure they'll be fine.

    Thank you for your sincerity's.

    Hmmmm, hope this'll be ok.....

Safely locked up all snug in the Horse school barn together.

Should Eleanor, Dorothy or Flo die they'll be together!

It looks like you have cement block walls on the barn. I would park them against the wall nearest the direction the storm will be approaching. That way any tin or roofing that comes off will be blown past them.

Now, if you drive your car 70 mph in a rainstorm, no damage will occur unless something hits you. Conversely, if your car is sitting still in a 70 mph wind, no damage will occur unless something hits you. Perhaps the moral of the story is to park your cars in an open pasture where no flooding will occur.

Anyway, this is not a bad storm as storms go. We have a storm/tornado season here and routinely have 70 mph winds with bursts up to 90. I've lost shingles on the roof, siding from the house, and a number of trees but my cars just sit in the driveway and have never been damaged. Hail damage is a possibility, but it hasn't done so bad enough yet.

I got an email from Mom today and they are aware of the weather and are not letting a little blow and rain stop the holiday plans. She is having a great time, lots of laughs she says. (y)

    Hello All!

Pleased to say we got away with 2 trees and a few branches down.

However, we were one of 200,000 homes without power hence I'm letting you all know now.

    The Garden took a beating,
Pic1 garden area large branch down.
Pic2 garden many tree tops down.
Pic3 garden pond area branches down.
Pic4 The fishery 2 trees down.

But, - The house, stables, barn, and cars not so. Thank goodness!

Thanks for all your kind words of advice and prayers.

"The garden took a beating"...Um, yeah, sure....OK:whistle: Did you mow the lawn before the pics?, wish my lawn looked that good after a "beating" by mother nature:biglaugh:

Glad you made it through OK(y), bummer about the 2 trees though.

I'll be having our Oak trees trimmed in the next couple weeks in preparation for our winter and it's winds, even having it done every year we get wind storms that all ways break branches off.

    LOL! seriously, this is messy!

The oak trees, Well, they seemed to be fine. Wind was recorded an average of 75mph for East Coker which was bad for UK. - and Up to 90mph elsewhere across England. Incredible.

LOL! thank you, I would suppose we take it for granted a bit, (which is wrong) as all the gardens around here are like this. Its a lot of upkeep to keep it looking nice. If it was up to me I would have a junkyard full of American Cars. - Don't think my better half would be too pleased though!

Picture this boys and girls. The branch just about that size is now dead minus all leaves and the left end is up much farther leaning on the tree trunk. A year has passed since the small tornado passed the edge of our five acres. The weather has cooled a bit so I can get off my lazy butt and clean up the front yard. ...Garden.
You decide it is time to take it down. Yo also decide you should use your truck to pull it to a wood pile to burn. But you also notice the bottom end is stuck in the sand and needs to be lifted out of the sand so you can drag it.
In your state of non-thinking you reach down and grab it, yank up out of the sand, and attempt to pull it down from the tree trunk.
The top end does come free from the tree trunk. In fact it slips free and crashes to the ground. In a split second the end in your hand, that end you see in the grass, smacks you directly in the eybrow like a javlin tossed by a knight in shining armor, or whatever. It is July 1st on a very bright sunny morning 2 1/2 years ago. The lights go out!
Do you know that just by falling on your face or other direct trauma to the head can knock your lens into your eye? I'm not talkin eye glasses here. Your eyeball lense! That thing behind the hole in your pupil. Three new lenses, one partial cornea, many other surgeries, needles in the eye, and I still can hardly see from the right eye. Permenant damage to the camera....That retna thing with all the wires going to your brain. You learn a lot about eyes after two years in doctors offices.
Thanks for the picture and the reminder. Ouchie! Don't try this at home!
