56 mpg?!?

    Dennis: There is an adaptor kit available out of Minnesota that will allow the mechanical AOD to fit behind the FE and Y block Ford engines. The other option is to go with a Gear Venders overdrive, but that means shortening the drive shaft quite a bit, and still leaves a sloppy torque converter in place. The mechanical AOD, with the kick down rod for a carburetor is an amazingly durable piece of kit, too. I have seen one with well over 1,000,000 kms on it, and we've had 3 go in excess of 500,000, still working right when the car died.

    Thanks for the update Mike, the AOD sounds the right way to go any ideas on who I should contact in Minnesota for a kit would be greatly appreciated :Handshake: :cheers:
