patrick I don't know about you and your massive collection but not many people with real money would come to my auction. I've already had "friends" offer to take my stuff for prices I can't refuse, which I do!
Only one of my kids know or care about the cars and he'd be after whatever he could get personally. My wife knows they are worth something but is not into it except for riding and car shows. The other kids don't care or have time to mess with my junk.
I have no idea how auction companies handle these things or what they charge for a few cars and parts. I actually stopped worrying about it.

That right there is a massive collection. I have seven vehicles, an RV trailer, old motorhome, a 47 Merc rolling chassis with engine, and a riding mower. And the boy has his Chevy truck and a Nisson race car/truck/thing.
Can't believe I had almost as much on a city lot in Illinois. But nothing is up on blocks with the wheels off ya'al!

WOW! I agree with you Patrick, more power to him, I have to tip my hat to someone who could get those prices for some of that stuff.

The owner where I work is having a '69 GTO Judge restored. He has the PHS papers on the car and paid very well for it...the firewall and roof may be useable. So I guess they have people in every town willing to shell out for some cars.

...no cars on blocks...yet...but between 2 of us (my dad and I) DD and projects we have 12 and 2 antique tractors. We have parted with a few in the last couple years and I even turned down a '64 Valiant project recently. All original non-running complete for free but have come to realization I need to finish my wagon and not take on anything else right now.

New '82 Cavalier sedan (sticker looks like $6500-something) went for $1800.

Those new 78-79 Impala sedans I wanted went for $2000, $2500, and $3750. *sniffle*

I couldn't register in time to try for anything, but based on the ending prices and the order they sold in, I probably would have ended up with 127L, a used 1979 Malibu sedan that went for like $700. The new, untitled one in worse condition went for $1800. That or the used maroon 1975 Impala sedan that fetched $1100 or so.

You really can't play shoulda-woulda-coulda with auction prices. You never know how much higher the top bidder was willing to go. If you had been bidding against him, it could have gone much higher. Then there is the auctioneer's fee, tax and the cost of transporting it home.

Although I think I missed out on those 4 Lambrecht Chevrolet pencils that went for $110 or maybe it was the promotional tape measure that sold for $160!!

My wife would have used the pencils and sharpened them to stubs. Our son would have either lost the tape or kinked it in a dozen places.

Then all the stress I go through I'd have it squeezed to death and worthless in no time! :banghead3:Glad my grand daughter wouldn't let me store a few dozen cars in her Omaha yard.

I brought this thread back from the dead, because someone brought one of the new trucks back from the dead.

In reality, the only value is the exceptionally low mileage. Unless you disconnect the speedometer cable, it will do nothing but decrease in value.
