    Welcome to the SWF, WNAW?

    You're in...
There's a bit of a debate in some circles at to whether the Mazda3 in the form you have is either a station wagon or a hatchback. It doesn't really matter as to our purposes here - we all really love Station Wagons, in whatever form they take.

For me, my very first station wagon was a Mazda. It was a 1974 RX-4, with a rotary engine. Sort of a 'RX-7 wagon' if you will.......

its a eonon in-dash dvd,tv,nav, usb,sd,tpms(tire pressure monitior),bluetooth, radio headunit with factory integrated steering wheel controls. i've also got a xbox360 under the passenger seat. cables ran for a playstation(so i can switch consoles easily). it's great for long trips. speakers are factory cause i'm not really into the big stereo systems but as soon as one fails i think i'm gonna go with some kenwoods. not shown in the pic is my radar detector. i only mention this is because of how great it is and what i would recommend to someone looking to pick one up. if anyone ever has any questions about radar detectors i'm the guy to ask.

Sorry, but all of those things just make me giggle.:rofl2: I rarely turn on the radio in any of my vehicles. I've mentioned that I look AHEAD AND NOTICE THE MANY SIGNS THAT THE CITIES, COUNTIES, STATES, AND FEDS PUT UP ALONG THE ROADS.
When the kids traveled with us they played "slug bug" and other games or talked and looked at scenery.
My wife and I do pretty much the same except for the games. We've been doing this over 57 years, sometimes driving 600-700 miles a day, and actually got to know each other fairly well. Looking at old buildings, cars, and fields is a lot more exciting than staring at a DVD monitor or a game.
So your vehicle may or may not be a station wagon, that doesn't matter.
As for radar detectors, I go with the flow and pay attention to what's around me. Not saying a cop might pick on my bright red truck. But it's been 50 years since I've gotten a speeding ticket.
Sadly driving has gotten dangerous and many wonder why! Maybe we need more cars that think for us.

Wow! almost your whole comment felt hostile. thanks for being so friendly!!!
    anyways.
    1. i pay attention when driving. never cause a wreck, never gotten a ticket

    2. my kid is a little young for that. but you wouldn't have know that because YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT ME EXCEPT WHAT KIND OF CAR I DRIVE.

    3. like we don't? not sure what to say about that.

    4. what? so because my car has a "fancy" radio in it you have declared it "NOT A STATION WAGON."

    5. refer to number 1.

once again, thank you for making me feel welcome here.

    Hey, slow down there, WNAW........

You're reading things into Denny's comments that aren't there. Denny's a bit more 'old school' than you, and he's just making some comparisons to the way vehicles (and driving) has changed over a couple of generations. Just his way of introducing himself - to you. Take another read of his post and look at it from that perspective.

    I second that

No judgment was being made (as I read it); just one person's point of view - how they did it, not how you should do it. This is as friendly of a group as you'll meet, so always assume best intentions. If they're ripping on you - you'll know it. No need to read into anything. Hope you'll hang around and find out for yourself first hand - these are good people on this forum. Everyone tries to help everyone. Welcome and hope to hear more about your wagon adventures - yes, I consider it a wagon!

It's amazing that all these things are available in cars now.:49:

I have such an appreciation for the neat stuff that is available(and expected) in cars today. In such a short time, as with most things today, techknowledge has advanaced so rapidly it's sometimes difficult to understand the reasonings for having alot of this stuff in a car.

I think that it's not neccessary to understand why it's needed but just give it the recognition that it deserves because it is here to stay. Just as most of us respect and appreciate a classic, vintage automobile regardless of it's brand or how long it's roof is, I feel equal respect needs to be given to this new generation of stationwagon.

Mutual respect is a two way street...JMO...:)

WhyNotAWagon I am sorry you read things into my post that were not there to hurt or offend you personally. I was simply writing of my own feelings and experiences. I honestly believe that all of those distractions do cause more accidents. I, however am not saying you have caused any. I'm sure you, your family, and friends do talk when you drive or ride. However I am also sure it is not like when I was younger. Perhaps we looked out the windows and stared at scenery because we didn't have monitors or games to stare at. I was only saying we didn't need them and still don't.
Sadly I already typed a message here and somehow it got deleted before I could hit reply. So will attempt to apologize again. Altho if you will reread my original post you will see I was not trying to make you or anyone else angry. We can all find negative things to make it look as if others are picking on us. I am still living in the past and driving mostly old cars. We say we never left the 50's and really didn't.
For instance, I did not say you do not own a station wagon. This debate has been going on ever since SUV's, Mini vans, hatchbacks, etc. replaced the original station wagon. Station wagons replaced what was known as DEPOT HACKS or Shooting Brakes other places.
Thanks also to the members who defended me and understand.
I am here WhyNotAWagon to be your friend.
