This 1947 flathead Ford truck with a Tow body and boom from a Model T truck showed up in Sterling, Virginia tonight, at the local cruise in, with a for sale sign in the window. The hand crank operated boom does not look like it would support anything heavier than a Model T of the same vintage.

Man that must have been fun (not) hand cranking up a car back then. Must have been extra scary letting it down!

I went to Deb's company's Golf and dinner today, but I didn't golf. They had a whack load of cool and some very expensive prizes also. We did not win the freeken huge 60"ish flat screen TV with DVD player and a game box thingy that was the grand prize but can't complain as we got what we needed. Deb has been wanting a area rug for the PC room and she won a nice plush $550, 6'x8' rug that is perfect for the room ( we would NEVER pay that, we would go to Wall Mart ). Deb also won 4 rounds of 18 hole golf for 2. I won a real nice insulated heavy duty canvas work coat....that FIT!
Very similar to the pic, yet dark tan in colour.....

It was a charity draw and we spent $100 on tickets, so considering a lot of people spent more $ and won nothing, I think we did pretty good!

All prizes were donated by local contractors and businesses.

    This years charity was.............

You did good Tedy. If I had that rug I wouldn't let anyone step on it! We got an 8X10 from Wally World in front of the sofa because my wife says the wood floor is too cold.
When I was a kid we had dirt floors...Geeezzz!

I like that boom truck. it sure looks flimzy!

    HOOTERS-almost anything post????

Someone who I will not mention added a nice photo of an early model Chevy long bed truck which just happened to a have a few young girls in that long bed. I was interested in that long bed and began to study it closely.
My wife eventually saw the picture when I was reviewing it for the 2nd. time. Or maybe 22nd. time when another nameless member put the photo up again.
As I showed her the body line at the front section of that red and white pick up truck she noticed the body lines of the young innocent child directly above that truck bed body line. I refrained from calling it a crack as my wife also noticed five other girls standing there. She has a good eye. I had no idea there were that many girls standing in that truck wearing orange shorts and those familiar lettered white blouses.
Well after I lied---- or told her the facts of why that picture was there things seemed fine. That is until she asked what I'd like to have tonight for supper... Yes we call it supper here. Dinner is around noon, or lunch when working.
Things again got ugly as I suggested going to Hooters. She informed me that the nearest Hooters is 50 miles away and I complain when she asks to go to the local Wal-Mart.
Speaking of Wal-Mart my wife carried a frozen pizza in bought at Wal-Mart and threw it on my desk. Apparently I am having pizza this evening.:slap:
And she made it clear she is not gonna wear orange short shorts.

I like that Ford truck in the water photo #925. I remember driving my old 49 Dodge and 54 Ford in water like that. To dumb to turn around.
In fact after I stopped....barely with wet drum brakes, I opened the doors to let the water out!
Thanks for the great old photos.

Last time I saw water like that on a road was, on a back road I would to and from work, heavy rains and the farm fields in the low part flooded over. As myself and a guy in front of me proceeded like the truck above a MR "I gots me a raised 4x4 all decked out" Blasted past us, covering us in a wave:mad:...If my window had been open :Blasting_anim:I would have stopped as he flooded his truck and stalled in the middle of the lake. I remember the car in front just puttering past, then rolled down his window and stopped, stuck his arm out over the roof and ....I did the same and just kept going!
