This photograph appeared in The Quinte Scanner Newspaper on
May 12, 1976 The Deseronto Cubs and Scouts held a successful
car wash at the Smith and Mitchell garage on Main Street on
Saturday. The youngsters spent most of the day soaping and
hosing down dozens of cars in their bid to raise funds for
    scouting activities.

It is only a very short drive off Rt 1, either the water was filled, or there is a tiny bridge or culvert now, to Little Duck Key. Been several years and we can't afford to buy a piece of land on that island big enough for a mail box now.
I'm sure the wagon is long gone.

Jefferson Bl. in this area was about 3 miles south of where I lived from 1956 - 1969. Widely known as a typical flooding area in heavy rains. the open land you see to the left of the roadway later became Hughes Aircraft Co. property (NOT where the 'Spruce Goose' was built, however...)

One of the aircraft they did develop at the location was the XH-17 'Flying Crane'. As a kid, I remember seeing this huge thing parked on the property. Probably around 100' diameter for the main blades.

Cars are Renault 4L, popular French Model, since 1961 to 1992. But I don't know for the place? Maybe RENAULT plant? During the coffee break, of course:pub:

As I look back in time I question why did I buy things like VW's, Renaults, Austin Healeys, and other small cars ? Hi-octaine gas was under 32.9 gallon!
    What was I thinkin?
