Two young boys were killed by a Python weighing about 100lbs and about 12-15' long. http://www.cbc.ca/news/index.html So very sad.
I'm having a hard time just believing this, there are so many "how?" that come to mind and the boys were over just for a sleep over. Better link below, terrible story. http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/new-brunswick/story/2013/08/05/nb-two-die-boa-attack.html
The one night the boys are there for a sleep over is the one night the snake escapes and finds its way into the room of the visiting boys? Even assuming that happened, both boys killed and not just one? I think not. I hate to say it, but if the snake was indeed the cause of death for both boys, then I would have to assume the situation was planned to create that outcome. If the snake felt "threatened", then likely there would have been screams from at least one of the boys that would have alerted others in the apartment.
A snake only kills when hungry. If it indeed killed the boys, it would have attempted eating them. There have been cases where grown men have been chased down by pythons/anacondas and were attempted eaten. The broadness of the shoulders were the only obstacle to having been able to swallow the victim. The autopsy should reveal the cause of death due to suffocation. Every bone should have been broken, also. When the snake is extended straight, it is not strong. But, when entwining its prey, the snake can exert unimaginable force. Much like the lack of leverage exertable from an extended finger compared to the force of a clenched fist
This is indeed what was released on the news. However I don't believe they will go into details and nor should they. This story is hard enough to comprehend as it is. I think there is more to this story that may come out later. There is difinately alot more questions then answers.
I dug up some more detailed hints in a foreign site According to the 2nd article, the autopsy was to be performed starting Tuesday. Since it's already Thursday, they should at least have a statement for the press already. This Tiger Python was just bagged from a guy who luckily had a knife. According to authorities, this is the largest python ever recorded in the Everglades. Since their import and subsequent release, it would only be a matter of time until these snakes reach their maximum length possible and will sooner or later attack more humans: http://www.blick.ch/blickamabend/ne...esstem-python-von-ganz-florida-id2317108.html Here's the on-topic article: http://www.blick.ch/news/ausland/python-erwuergt-connor-7-und-noah-5-id2397298.html The snake measured almost 5 meters which is not that much shorter than the one pictured and surely long enough to have swallowed both boys one after the other. This online commentary doubts that the snake killed the boys, saying that an animal of this kind never kills then not eats the prey and would never kill for fun:
The story has already changed, the snake was a pet that lived in the apartment they were staying in, it didn't escape from the pet store downstairs. The snake has no idea they were kids, not its fault, they just zero in on the body heat instinctually as a possible food source.
I wonder how many times the'll change the story My article says the snake entered the room from an air duct:
These incidents are on the increase, and it is all because of irresponsible people owning these creatures. Read more here.
Wow! Some of those punishments handed down on breaved parents are harsher than the ones handed down in much Europe to parents convicted of premeditated severe child abuse leading to eventual death. On the other hand, in Asia, they take a lenient attitude. In fact, in places like Indonesia, villagers live side by side with dangerous reptiles. Now and then, someone gets killed by one of them: The invasion of these monster snakes has altered the mammal population of the everglades. On a positive note, you can get plenty of delicious steaks from just one animal
I, too, have heard differing reports on just how this happened. I worry that by now there are too many variances to know for sure what happened until later on down the road. Regardless, the death of a child is beyond tragic, and to have lost two... I have known a few people that have dangerous animals as pets. Fortunately, for them, they were responsible people and kept the environment safe and secure, both for the animals and for the people. However, too many idiots get the notion in their heads that they can handle it. In Joplin, 10 years ago, a house around the Seargent Ave and 16th/17th street area was broken into. The intruder was met with a plethora of uncontained serpents and reptiles...
I find it odd in this story that the owner's own son was not in the room, while his friends were....... I also heard that the authorities found out the snake lived in the apartment. Seems to me 2 charges of negligent homicide are appropriate.
