You know, at 53 years old, I have only had two auto accidents in my life.
The first one was minor as I rolled into a car while looking over my left shoulder waiting for traffic to clear so I could make a right turn. The car ahead of me had pulled forward and I swear she had taken the turn, but she had, in fact, chickened out and stopped again for a clearer chance. Poor lady still had her temporary tags on the car. She had JUST bought it.
My second accident happened the week before last just four houses up the street from mine. Less than half a block from home.
I make a right turn onto my street a block away from my driveway. My cel phone had slid off the seat and I, as usual, reached over to fetch it back up, temporarily taking my eyes off the road. I've done this a million times in my life.
My wagon has manual steering, and if you've ever had the same you'd understand what happened next.
I bumped the curb with the passenger side tire and the steering wheel spun ALL the WAY to the right, ripping the wheel from my hand. I was maybe five feet away from a well built brick mailbox and drove right over the top of it, knocking it down along the way.
As I remember it, the Slant Six engine hardly lost any RPM. A serious Torque Monster that engine is.
Well here are some pictures of my newly adjusted 1970 Plymouth Belvedere Wagon.
I, too, am crushed. Perhaps beyond repair...

I'm sorry to hear that as well. I do hope you decide to repair it. Those plain wagons are my favorite.

Nope, this is not beyond repair! This frame rail and skirt can be pulled back into shape by a good frame shop. You will, of course, need a new hood, RH fender, core support, radiator, grille, and bumper. Finding those will be the hard part of this repair!

I so feel for you:cry:. I'm with Wixom on this one, yes she is bent but a good shop can do wonders, don't give up on it just yet.

Nothing is beyond repair, it all depends how much cash you want to spend.
Need to get it on a frame rack and see what damage is done and if a repair is feasible.
You're lucky you didn't run over pedestrians or hit another car taking your eyes off the road like that, the lousy cell phone wasn't going anywhere. A local guy recently reached down for a CD he dropped on the floor and when sat back up back up the car was running into the side of a dump truck bed and he was decapitated instantly, it was nobody's fault but his.
The car is the one to feel sorry for, you won't get any sympathy from me.

BV, you can really be a piece of work. It's nice to know that we are all in the midst of someone that is perfect and has never made a mistake, but a friend you aren't! Why would you even chime in to scold a fellow wagon owner that has just had this happen? Just go along in your superior cloud, and bypass all of us mere mortals.

David (we need an emoticon with a raised middle finger!)

Condolences, and glad no one was hurt. I believe it is repairable, and is to nice a longroof not to be on the road again.

Good Luck with it and keep us informed on the progress please!!!!!

Sorry to see that damage. Luckily, it doesn't look like any rare or impossible to replace pieces were damaged. A good frame shop can straighten the frame. You'll likely need to find another K-frame from another B-body.

Maybe a chance to spiff her up a bit - Road Runner grill and hood?

Sorry to hear about your misfortune but glad only metal was hurt. Looks fixable to me! Hope you're feeling better about the outlook for your wagon.

    Yes.

    OK.

    Yes, Minus the word "Lousy".

There's a story of driver inattention.

I'm not sure I'm seeing things quite right here but whatever the case, I believe I should forgive him for the accident.

I imagine you'll get that right back at you in some form if you keep doing it, Not necessarily from anyone at this forum though. Forgiveness is awesome, It cancels out unspeakable rage of all sizes.

Again, the need for an emoticon with a raised middle finger has never been more urgent! :rofl2::rofl2::rofl2:
