I hear ya Rev! I am sure it is going to take much more time to clean her up than it will take to get her running.
I am actually getting pretty excited about it. My Aunt (Janice Markle) absolutely loved the car and they held onto it all these years in hopes to get it back on the road again. Unfortunately the long battle with cancer got the best of her and she went home to God on Dec.11 2008. I am so grateful that she wanted me to have the car and that my uncle gave it to me. I promised him I would cherish and do everything in my capability to preserve it ( I have 4 children so I cant store it in a climate controled garage). I dont plan on a repaint or anything like that. My plan is to get it running, clean her up really good and just like I said...Preserve and meticulously maintain it.
She isnt going to just sit around either. We are planning on a family vacation this December and plan on taking the wagon to Florida. Thats one thing my uncle asked me to do was to use it and keep it going.
Sorry if i have bored you all with this "very short" version of the story.
I also have another old car if you all care to hear about it. I know its not a wagon but... 1977 Oldsmobile 98 Regency 2 door. Another sweet car wearing its original paint (very little rust). Fresh 403, power everything, leather. Far from perfect but I drive it a couple times a week and really enjoy it.I love how the old "land barges" ride.
If you all care to hear the stories on either or both cars feel free to ask. I know I am new here and dont want everybody to "turn me off" already.

Here are a few more pics. The last 2 are of my brothers Charger and of us flying when I visited him in New Mexico back in October. I am the ugly one on the left.

Don't worry about your stories...it's what makes all of this worth while. In the end, cars are cars...it's the stories about them and behind them that makes them special (y).

I, too, love how the old land barges ride. My 2001 Park Avenue may as well be a Camry for how it rides...there's no difference. But a '77 Olds 98 Regency??? Sweet!!!

So sorry to hear about your Aunt. My father is fighting cancer as we speak...it's tough, to be sure. I'm flying back to New Mexico next week to see him.

Sorry to hear about you father. Cancer is....well its cancer.... I dont know how far advanced he is but there is something that gave my aunt probably a couple extra years of life (according to my uncle). Its called colloidal silver. I am not a doctor nor do promise anything but after what I seen...I drink the stuff. Do some research. It isnt the cure but from what I have witnessed it does do something. I know this isnt the proper forum for this sort of thing but if can possibly help your father like it did with my aunt than I feel it was worth mentioning. My prayers are with him,you and your family.

Well, I'm sorry to hear about your family members,my grandfather is fighting diabetes related complications right now, but seems to be doing better.

I also love how these big cars ride, my 60 Bel-Air and my Wagon ride georgously. My 03 Crown Vic was nice, but not as cloud-like.

Thanks. I'll also keep your grandfather in my thoughts/prayers.

The ride in my mother's '04 Grand Marquis is nothing like her '72 Marquis Brougham was. I realize that most people want the "handles like a German sports-sedan" ride, but I've found (between this forum and the Park Ave forum that I participate in (ejole' , that's a whole other dark parallel universe :49:)) that many people still like/want the boulevard ride. Someone oughta create a business customizing suspensions for people who want something other than the racing suspension for their cars.

You're probably right. I saw the TV report about this year's car show, and wondered how much jiggling and bouncing the batteries will take in those electric hybrids.

Since they are not lead/acid batteries they can take a lot of abuse.

I don't think this Electric car thing is well-thought out. A lot of places don't have enough hydro as it is. Rates won't go down either. and most homes don't have 200 AMP services for a quick recharge. Imagine a plug-in at every parkade? The homeless will be able to plug in a small kettle!

Jeez Stormin' you live in the prairie! Put up a windmill and make your own electricity. Winnipeg's not that big...a couple of miles of extension cord ought to do the trick.:biglaugh:

I can right in the city too - on my roof:

You can too. That company doesn't sell them in Canada, because of our building and electrical codes in some places. Cities modify them as well as provinces. But the US encourages it! Go figure.

The house behind me has a 75 foot steel pole with a wind generator on it. It hasn't been used since the 70's and it would be cool to have but how would you take it down without a crane?

The best thing would be coal powered cars with smokestacks, spread the pollution around evenly instead of just by the power plant.:rofl2:

In your case you can use one of these for both you and your neighbor and a few others. No more hydro bills EVER! Bird friendly, less noise than a vacuum cleaner and modular (they can add more modules stacked on top with 5.5 KWA each. Again, in Green Canada, we don't install them, but they're all over the US, Japan and China. They installed one in downtown Montreal on an office tower in 1985, and it was upgraded last year to run the lights in the 20 story tower next door. I guess they refuse to let our politicians grab photo-ops for doing the right thing.
