it was a legend (sorta) for a few reasons

waaay back in the day it was the car that the local dragstrip used for "security"...in other words 2 guys driving around the property lookin for people trying to sneak in or drinking ....we called it MaGarret (as in Hawaii5o fame) :D

then one day the 'track' decided it wasnt cool anymore ...so I bought it:D

As i have eluded before...I've loved Lowriders since the 80's..(the cars that is)..when I first saw them in Cali....not the lifestyle or the crap you see on late nite videos...but I love the cars !

SSo...back in 93 or so..when I bought it, I decided to make it a Lowrider...even tho "doing a Ford" was not the "cool kid" thing to do...and I was already in my 30's...so I was lot older than most of the kids getting into 'lowriding'...but what the hey :D

The Mothership...as she became known..was around for a few years...blew some minds...till I found my 77 Grand Marquis Brougham and she got parked in the back 40 !!

well with my new 63 Falcon wagon due to show up any day....I decided to thin the hurd !!
I alredy mentioned that I sold My 59 International AMby...and now its time for The Mothership to go to the big scrap pile in the sky !:(

so anyhoo...heres some shots of her in her hayday :thumbs2:...then the new one....then today getting pulled from her resting place..then the preverbial "locusts attack'...(stripping parts) ...proof I actually do work on my cars...sometimes.....:biglaugh:

    the new one...well I bought it 15 years ago:yup:

where I dragged her out of
    [IMG]

she was so LOW that I unintentially roto tilled the yard:rofl2:

still had 6 group31 batteries in the trunk:rofl2:...and the motor was still loose !!!!

since I took these pics...I stole the grill..the tailights..and some trim to hoard for the other one ...should she ever need it...(heaven forbid)....she looks pretty decrepet now.

Rust In Peace my old friend

    anyhoo....thats how I wasted my Sunday:yup:

Too cool Rev, I have always been a lowrider fan, I think it's cool that there is at least a few of us ground pounders around here.

Really???, we never would have guessed:rednose:

That must have been some ride in it's day, Rev. Funny to me, I've tossed a joke out about your Colony with the low rider wheels and even tossed a pic in of a hooping car ( was some time back when you found those 2, 70's wagons)...... But I never knew!:rofl2:

I have to say though...... I'm really thinking about lowering the Beateor, but no hydraulics......could you imagine my dogs bouncing around back there??:49:.....:rofl2:

Rev, Rev. I can't believe you guys out there! The Mother Ship is in BETTER shape than many of the Marquis you see around here! WAY better than Bertha was, and she only had 40,000 km on the clock! The 2 doors are rare as hen's teeth, too! Why the #3!! do you live so far away? I'd have taken the old girl for what the scrap yard would give you. You could even keep the hydraulics!

Always sad to see a toy go down the road - either on its own or on a flatbed. Too bad that frame wasn't a fit for that gorgeous wagon you have tucked away that needs some attention.

Hope we didn't cause you to damage yourself when we honked on our way past. With 17' of trailer awning strapped to the roof of the truck and topper (come listen to a story bout a man named Jed playing through our heads as fellow travellers looked askance and double takes as we drove down the freeway) we didn't think we could swing in to your driveway without taking down a tree or two, and did not want to embarrass you too much with that thing on our roof.

yup Teddy...she was alooker in her day as you can tell by the 1st pic !

note: its a common misconception that Hydros ride stiff or bouncy....truth is...it all comes down to what the owner does with the coils ...My 77 Grand Marquis drove around Victoria with the 2 head mucky mucks from Motor Vehicle Inspection for an hour...they had NO idea !!!
It still rides like its stock !!!!

Rev, if you are scrapping that 89, and it is an LS, keep the headrests! Those are HARD to come by, and so much safer and more comfortable than the regular ones! If I get the 80, I will have to find a pair. Wish me luck! Wish I could grab that 85, but you are a LITTLE too far away!

Just for interest sake, what does the 85 need, and what's under the hood? Shipping might not be too much of a problem. Good excuse for a road trip! LOL Wouldn't be THAT much more to take the train out there and drive back, compared to the 80 CP here in Barrie, after all. Would not take a grand in fare and gas for the trip and Lord knows I need a vacation!
