Yep, Fannie, it is nice to see Wix back on the forum. It took some bait from Rev though to lure him back

Knowing Rev, that Riv is probably low miles........

Yeah, Saf and Fannie, it's good to be skulking around here again.

The '75-'76 Rivs are not very well regarded, but I've always thought they were quite handsome.
I'm sure that Rev will have a pic of the Riv that looks every bit as gorgeous as this example below. :thumbs2:

Most every GM car's front end styling during those years featured the ubiquitous massive 5-mile an hour bumper, and rectangular headlamps, but I've always felt this model Riviera was probably the best looking, closely followed by the '75-'76 full-size Cadillac. I'm not really sure why these front ends look so right to me, but it's probably just a matter of proportion and placement of the various features.

The biggest problem with one of these cars is that no one makes replacement parts for the urethane fillers for the bumpers, and they always fail.

    David :)

well...good thing I put about 4 hours off to the side yesterday:rofl2:

Holy...could this boy talk:yup:...I was there for almost 4 hours...and now I know way tooo much about this ol guy:rofl2:
Mind ya..he's quite well spoken and aside from the odd 'repeating' is still alert as all get out for 80 something !

As it turns out..he's been around the car scene since the 50's and we know alot of the same people.
For that matter...he bought the GREEN one from my buddy's DAD about 20 years ago...and the BROWN one from a car lot about 25 years ago that I worked at as a kid :slap:

So anyhoo...the BROWN one is DONE body wise !!! but runs mint !...brakes are shot (lines rusted out)
the GREEN one is soso bodywise, and runs decent.
    And...they're both 460/full load/3rd row cars

But for all the times that he said... " i'd practically give em away to you "...what he meant was ..." i want about 500 each for them "

He knows they are worth about 400 in scrap each:yup:
Im quite sure that he and I arent finished bantering over them ....but I told him that I would end up parting them both out...although the GREEN one sure is tempting....I gotta thing for that Green on Green (y)

As for the RIV...it was a 77...which are fugly and have NO market up here !
it was dirty and grimy with a shot headliner ...but runs great (403)(i believe)...and the body was mint !!...brakes shot !
I never even took a pic of it...(wasnt interested)

so heres some pics...Brown first...check out the rear 1/4's :rofl2:

and now the Greeny one...check out the rust in the HOOD !!...wth?

this is about the worst rust on the Green...but it had some crappy paint n body back in the early 80's...theres alot of stuff under it !

oh...i forgot to mention...they've been buried under Blackberry bushes for the last 6 years till this week !!!!

and so there ya are....it wasnt a waste of 4 hours....but it wasnt well spent either:biglaugh:

Hey Rev....in pic 2 and 6 of the brown one....do I see still another rust bucket, junker wagon parked on the street in the background? :rofl2:

Well...too bad the old guy let these cars go like he did at the end; they were both great cars back in the day. Those 460 engines might be nice to have around though!:yup:

ya...the one in the background actually got me there:rofl2:
as for the 460's...theres not much of a market for them here...otherwise Id snag em both faster;)

I think i'll go swap wheels on the 89....its about 65 out there:dancing:

Oh man! I wish I could rescue that green one. Those two-tone leather interiors are gorgeous! Love the wheels too!

Glad that Riv was a '77, because now that I know they have started making the filler pieces, I want a '76 more than ever...and I need one like a hole in the head! :whew: Dodged that bullet!

    David :)

And that's what he expects to get for them?:rofl2::rofl2::rofl2:

Unless he has his own truck and trailer to haul them away, a scrapper won't even pay $400 for both.

Maybe scrapers pay more on the mainland because of all the extra driving and distance etc, but here where everything is so close a scrapper would pay you $100 a car for those.

Bummer they turned out to be as rough as they are, you still had more fun yesterday than I did... I did lawn work.

Love the wheels on the green one. They look great! One thing, though, if those arm rests are good, be sure to save them when you part those cars out! They are hard to find! I'd love one of the 460s for Bertha. Too bad they are so far away!

The 77 Riv sounds neat, too. I rather like them, and they sure do drive nicely. Too bad it is so far away.

About the time I was looking for a wagon, there was a green Mercury CP like this one available in Washington for around $2,000 - $2,500 IIRC - and it was a beautiful driver. Same brougham interior. I didn't bite because of the size and the 460's known thirst for fuel.

From what I'm seeing, Rev, I don't see any advantage to you picking these 2 up - even if he gave them to you.

Sheeze Mike, I could for the cost of a 6-pac set you up with yet another 460, hell I'd even give you a 6-pac to take my 400 away. Rev is rite, there is no market for them on our coast any more...... A few beer and some old cladding is how I got 2 460's as posted in another thread. I should bring them home one day, but the travel time across the street is a killer....I guess that's why the cladding is still behind my garage also.:rofl2:

I think I remember that one KK, had a sheet over the front glass to keep the sun out, rite?

And yeah, the 460 is going to be a dam thirsty motor any way you look at it. I'm gona be screwed!:49:
    :rofl2:

Edit... Yeah, the wheels on the green one, Those would be nice to have Rev...... for a 72 Beateor that is:D
