At least the pump didn't die in the yard parking lot!

Couple questions....you need power vent windows...Malibu sedan or wagon?

You DID check the BOP G bodies for aluminum core supports, right? Especially the 79 Regal.

You need the power quarter window actuators from a '78-80 GM G-Body 4 door sedan like a Malibu, Cutlass Salon.. etc., wagon power door vent window actuators won't work.
Very few cars came with the option so they're pretty hard to find. The rear windows didn't go down on the cars so they needed the vent windows behind the rear doors. I wonder how many people bought them without noticing that the back door windows were fixed???

My old car riding pooch only has a little crack to stick her nose out in the back of my Custom Cruiser because the windows only partially go down.
It's seriously making me want to sell the car.
I should talk, should of checked that before I bought it.

Sedan. The far-rear 1/4 windows pop out, and on cars with power windows they are power-actuated. Can be made to power the rear 1/4 windows on 91-96 GM Longroof wagons.

Did not know to look for aluminum core supports. What're they worth?

I am thankful the fuel pump issue didn't happen when Misty was up there in Dallas visiting alone, and that it did not go out while I was in the parking lot of one of the junkyards! It waited until I got to my brother-in-law's driveway...so no towing needed. Could have been a lot worse, but still no fun.

My brother-in-law was in Florida...he missed all the fun!

And yep, Saturday was fun, and i'm looking forward to putting the hitch on my Olds wagon!

Yep, the boxy B-Body 77-90 GM wagons went down a little further because they had the fixed "vent" windows in the rear doors. GM did away with the extra windows on the 91-96 cars for a smoother look (and I bet it saved money for them too) and the wheel-well intrusion limits how far the bigger door glass goes down.

I have BAD memories from childhood of riding in the middle seat my friend's mother's light yellow over tan vinyl early 80's Cutlass wagon. In Tulsa Ok, in the 90+ degree humid summertime, after the a/c in that Cutlass died... I was SHOCKED the rear windows would not go down. The vent windows were a joke...the wagon had no window tint, the vinyl was hot and made your legs sweat, and in the back it was like riding in a greenhouse. HOT!! About 10 years back I bought a '83 Bonneville Model G wagon and I rode around all the time with the tail gate glass opened for airflow. Wish my friend's Mom had thought to do that back in 1984!!!

The rear door glass is also what's kept me in three Suburbans and now the Denali XL. After our first Suburban my wife said she might like to try a Tahoe. At the dealer I showed her that the Tahoe glass only goes halfway down, while the Burb rear door glass goes all the way down. Misty loves to drive with the windows down, so we've had Burbs ever since!

Mike, yesterday evening I read your TRUCK???? fuel pump adventure to my wife and son for entertainment. 23 year old knew exactly what you were going thru and knew what that magic black thingie is. Last summer he replaced three or more new faulty Ford Ranger pumps and ended up buying a junk yard pump. The only one that kept working! He normally doesn't swear but I heard him say "dang it" a few times!
This new crap is no good. Hope you got a keeper pump.
Besides his job in the motorcycle shop he's a shade tree mechanic. One thing he replaces a lot are electric in tank pumps. What were they thinking?
Since he's learned to master swapping late model GM trannys he's got several more junk yard transmission jobs lined up. Just hope he gets as good of trannys as his is.
He also bought Hooker Headers for $30. Cost more than that for the needed flange adapters and some short connection pipes. Actually made his 85 Chevy engine quieter. PS Found out it's not a 305. Has a rebuild tag from Springfield, Mizzuree as a 350.

OK, I gotcha on the PW actuators. Thought maybe you had a G body not listed on your cars. I have a few for the later sedans/wagons, but never pulled the early sedan version actuators. Only seen 2 that had them in 10 years of hitting the yards pretty regularly.

The aluminum core supports are pretty rare, and will bring between $200-$300 for a NICE one...popular with the GN fellas and other G body guys looking to lose a little weight from their cars but retain the OE look. And some just like them for bragging rights, I think.

I have only found them in 78,79 and 1 1980. Usually Buicks and Pontiacs, although Olds is said to have used them (never personally seen one in an Olds).
