Well the big ol' 63 Mercury CP is sitting much lower now and rides like a dream. New springs, shocks, bushings, tie rods etc brought it down almost 3 inches in front and 4 1/2 inches in back. I think I'll keep it for awhile and just enjoy the heck out of driving the tires bare.

Thanks to everyone for your comments and suggestions.

Here are a few after pics.

Looking GREAT! To show you how high that car used to be, the way it is now LOOKS like it is the stock height I remember as a kid for these cars. The way it was before was like it was on stilts.

Thanks all. It now sits just a wee bit lower than stock and rides perfect. I initially thought about slamming it way down but decided I want to be able to drive it anytime anywhere and wanted a slight hot rod rake and then later run as big a tire/wheel combo as possible. I'll keep the current 225/R60x 15's and American Racing TT II's for now but would like to change to 17 inch Vintage 5 spokes with as cast finish spokes and the biggest tire that will fit without rubbing the inner fenders. Right now it rides and steers just right and looks much better than it did when it had the Monster Truck stance.

Mike...i think you'll find that the 5" blocks are more trouble than they are worth...why?....the U bolt perches will hang down waaay too low !!...they will hang past the rims which is illegal in most states...(scrubline law).if you have it?....3" and some spring work would be better(y)

you'd be better off to have the leafs DE-arc'd...or throw the rear suspension away completely and put a 4 link into her...then air bags or whatever suits your fancy !
