Hello fellow wagon lovers. I tried to post a message earlier, but it did not transmit for some unknown reason. I will write again soon, when I have more time. My wagon will be out of the beauty shop soon and I will post some "before" and "after" photos. She is just broken in mechanically (April, May, June, 2012) and went into the body/paint/interior shop in early July, 2012. So, I'm expecting to be in the road again sometime in late March/early April, 2013. I will say that she eats Mustang GT's and "Hemi" Challengers for lunch!! I wonder if those "Hemi" folks know that it ain't really a Hemi. GeeRide
Thanks to several members for your great welcomes! Hello again to the Wagonheads who have welcomed me to the site. I am very glad that I was able to proceed into the site this evening, as I had tried once before but was unsuccessful. I wanted to let you guys know that I mastered the technique on the posting of photos and have posted several from December, 2011 thru early July, 2012. March/April is when we (youngest brother Carter and I) got the engine and new drivetrain installed (mostly, well ALL Carter) based on my designs and written plans as to the restomod process. We fired her up the first week of April, 2012 and put her on the road (daily driver) for the drivetrain breakin period. Delivered the wagon to the body/paint/interior shop on July 7, 2012 where the total cosmetic redo is now in progress. I have more photos from the body shop on a disc that I will find soon so that I can post some of those photos. Thanks again for your warm welcomes and I look forward to some more pics posting very soon. The List: 2010 Corvette crate LS3 w/550 flywheel h.p./495 lbs. flywheel torque; Tremec 6-spd. dbl. O.D. gearbox; Moser/Chevy 12-Bolt posi. 3.73:1 diff.; Wilwood 4-whl. discs; DSE Level 3 road-race suspension/steering gear; Cortez Silver Clearcoat (NO STRIPES!!), Maroon leather; Ten point upholstered rollcage; 12 speaker killer sound system; and much, much more; My friends who ask how I have been able to afford everything, I let them know that I know how to save money, I'm single, and my Nomad might as well be my woman.
Response to JMT455 Thanks for your comments. The wagon will be Cortez Silver clearcoat. My guy that is gonna paint it says it will be ten miles deep when he is finished. I'm not a stripes guy, so I have insisted to "Brains" that there will be absolutely NO STRIPES on my wagon, period. I have always preferred solid colors, no two-tones, no stripes, no pinstripes, no graphics, just a perfect paint job is what I like. But, I know that I am in the minority, since everything I see that has been redone seems to have some kinda graphics on it. I guess I just like to be a little different. Anyway, it is good to hear from you and I will be posting some more progress pics in the next week or so. I noticed that you are a Pontiac guy. I love Ponchos. Had several Trans Am Firebirds over the years and none of them said "Trans Am" on 'em. As soon as I took possession of my Trans Ams, off with the decals. Man did they look good, without all of that ridiculous lettering all over them. No birds, no vinyl tops, none of that stuff to distract from the beautiful lines of the car. I guess I believe in 'to each, his or her own'. Look forward to chatting again in the near future. GeeRide
I couldn't agree with you more. I'm not a big fan off all the graghics that you see on alot of cars. However I have seen some that are (IMO) very tastefully done. I am so jealous your car looks great already. I had thought about painting Fannie brown, so know I know what she'd look like. I'll be looking forward to seeing the rest of your photos. Glad you figured out the photo posting stuff, thanks for sharing. I'm a bit of a poncho fan myself.
Fannie, I suppose that I did not post the pics in the correct order. The pics in the driveway of the body shop are taken on July 7, 2012 and the pics of the car mostly taken apart and with new fenders and hood being fitted and doors rough-primed in light gray are taken in Aug., Sept., Oct., and Nov., 2012. The original color of the car is called Autumn Gold, but the tailgate came off of a wagon that was painted a color called Champagne Gold. The photo that you highlighted was taken at the body shop on July 7, 2012 before any bodywork was started. Just wanted to clear that up. I'm glad to hear from you and also very excited that there seems to be a good bit of interest in my old Chevelle wagon, and all wagons for that matter. I'm glad that everyone seems to like them as much as I always have. There has been quite a lot of progress on the bodywork and interior redo. So, I will post more progress pics very soon. Cortez Silver clearcoat will be the new color when finished in the next couple of months. Glad to hear from you. GeeRide
Can't wait for more pix of that awesome wagon, Gee! AND....I sure would love to get behind the wheel of that monster!!
