    Very cool Poncho, congratulations!
I like that woodgrain too, actually looks like it could be wood.:)

The 305 Chevy was called a 5.0 at the same time the Olds 307 was called a 5.0 so it can be confusing.
The car should have a 307 Olds unless it was built in Canada.

I don't know about there, but here, Chev and Pontiac got the Chev 305, and Buick and Olds got the 307 Oldsmobile engine. Both were backed up by a 200R4. Both are great engines, most of the time. I know examples of both with phenomenal miles on them. The 307 has 10 more horsepower than the 305, and slightly more torque, too. Great wagon you found. Enjoy for many years!

An Olds 350 is a drop-in in place of the 307. Did the swap on my Cutlass, and it makes a HUGE difference.

    Just food for thought!

Congratulations Marshall from electrically-challenged NJ! That's a good-looking wagon, and I like that it's a true Bonnie, not Caprice clone. Enjoy many happy miles and years of wagoneering. I was beginning to think you were having commitment issues. Nice job Fox and friend helping bring this man and this wagon together.

With only 22k on the vehicle, I don't think I'll be doing an engine swap anytime soon....... Down the road, I'm sure that's what I would do.

It's a 307. And early enough that it does not have those crummy swirled heads.(y)
I had started my own thread on this wagon in the Lounge section and did a little desription there. I just copied it for this section. Here it is....

Well....after all these years of never believing the miles on a really low mile car....I'm going to go out on a limb here. When I was on my way to the wagon with my friend Bryon I was saying to Bryon that there's no way that this car has 21K miles on it. I figured, probably, 121K miles. Still, might be a nice car or it might not. Bryon and I climbed all over the car and we both drove it. I kicked it and buried the speedo.:D Let me tell you...this car has the original shocks, original exhaust, including the cat converter, it even has the original GM belts. I lifted up the floor mats and seriously doubt that the carpet has ever seen the bottoms of shoes. There is zero rust anywhere. After inspecting it and driving it I told Bryon that I'm leaning toward actually believing the miles on the car. He said he DOES believe the miles. When it was my turn to drive the car Bryon didn't want to give it up he liked driving it so much. It drives tight, straight and quiet like a new car. There is no way this car has 121K miles on it. I inspected the speedo the best I could and could see no tampering.
The story is that it was owned by an old man that kept it in the garage and primarily took it to shows. The old guy loved the car. He died and no one in the family wanted it so the seller that sold it to KK picked it up and only drove it a few thousand miles and then needed money. I looked hard at this car and I cannot doubt the miles or the story. This is a solid car that has been babied.

This just proves that if a person waits long enough and gets as many eyes and ears helping, the right wagon will come along at a good price. Couldn't have found better eyes than Silverfox and his friend.
Still, if it were me, I wouldn't count my chicken until it was in my chicken house.:29:

KK...I would talk to BigBarney right away about the hauler he mentions above. Closed is good. A recommendation from a member here, like Barney, is also good.
And....make SURE Tim goes over the car with the hauler and marks each and every scratch, nick or mark of any kind on the pick-up sheet. The driver will have a sheet with line drawings of every angle of a generic car so any marks on the Poncho can be noted as to location and description before the car leaves his house. It is imperitive that this is done with scrutiny so that, if the driver should cause damage, he cannot say that it was already there. If it does not appear on the sheet...the driver did it and is responsible.
Remember....tell Tim to do this with cautious and absolute scrutiny.

Already got BigBarney's hauler friend information.
The inspection sheet is on my 'to-do' list for the seller.
Right now I'm arranging the funds and waiting for Tim to send me copies of the ownership docs. he said not to expect them before Monday - he's apparently out of town.

    Congratulations Marshall.

Wow, a Pontiac Safari wagon. I'm really happy for you. With that mileage it is like buying the car a couple of years after it was first sold. That car is heading to the perfect new home.

From the pictures it looks to be in great condition and with Fox doing the on the ground critiquing you can't go wrong.

I'm looking forward to seeing it in person next spring when we come camping down you way once again.
